We're seeking a highly skilled Robotics Software Developer to join our autonomous drone development team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in developing software for robots and complex systems, as well as experience with ROS, Python, and developing in Linux.

The successful candidate will join a highly capable team who are passionate about creating intelligent robotic solutions, and enabling renewable energy around the world. The successful applicant will work alongside the existing development team to design, refine, implement, and test the flight software of the system. This is an excellent opportunity to work on an innovative drone application, from flight testing through to industry demonstrations.

Roles And Responsibilities

Product architecture: Working with the team to develop and implement a scalable, maintainable system architecture, based on industry best practices and cutting-edge technology.
Flight system development: Developing new features and enhancements, as well as writing and testing code to ensure that the drones are operating safely and efficiently.
Support and bug fixes: Monitoring the performance of deployed drones, identifying and resolving issues as they arise, and ensuring that our clients receive high-quality, reliable service.
Mentoring: Mentoring junior developers and providing guidance on best practices, as well as reviewing and approving merge requests to ensure that code changes are properly tested and integrated.

Requirements

Demonstrable experience in developing and testing code for robots in complex environments
Experience developing original software for Robot Operating System (ROS)
Strong programming skills in Python with the ability to write efficient algorithms for onboard compute modules
Ability to confidently develop in and for the Linux environment
Approach new projects with test driven development in mind
Enthusiastic team player

Nice to have

Background in control/estimation
Experience developing computer vision algorithms such as SLAM for embedded computing devices
Experience integrating devices (e.g. sensors) and communication protocols
Field testing or experience running trials
Consideration for system and code security
Appetite for learning new programming languages and keeping up to date with advancements in the field
