We are building the world’s largest plant to produce green ammonia at scale, providing humankind with a cost-efficient solution that will accelerate the worldwide green hydrogen economy. Located in NEOM and supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, NGHC will be integrating up to 4GW of onshore solar and wind energy to supply up to 650 tons of green ammonia per day for transportation globally. Operations will go onstream in 2026. Reports To: Senior Maintenance Manager
Liaise/Cooperate With: NGHC PWEs O&M Team, OEMs, Contractors, APEPC Team, EPMS Team-NGHC EHS Team, GHE O&M & EHS Team.
POSITION SUMMARY
Maintenance Engineer shall be responsible to supervise & lead maintenance team of 2.97 GW dc solar PV farm in NEOM region. The main objective to ensure safe, reliable & efficient operation of solar PV farm by ensuring the safety of plant personnel and plant assets.
NATURE & SCOPE
The main functions of this position are:
- Maintenance of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems from generating station i.e., Power skid to substation in compliance with OEM recommendations and approved SMPs.
- Actively participate in plant O&M activities, Commissioning activities & safety compliance workshops.
- Enthusiastic to propose the Continuous improvement suggestion to keep elevating & enabling the best plant O&M practices.
- Proactively develop system and practices to encourage continuous workflow improvements and increase the asset productivity and efficiency.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES
Quality Operation Practices:
- Ensure that the team be able to monitor, maintained & restore the generating stations i.e., Inverters within the minimum time frame by performing necessary, appropriate & correct troubleshooting methods in line with OEM recommendations.
- Extend his support & supervise his team closely to enable & ensure that the best O&M practices are being followed & well executed.
- He is responsible for enhanced Maintenance planning & scheduling by considering the availability of resources (Tools, Equipment’s & Manpower) & their distribution in best possible way to optimise the maintenance time & cost.
- Responsible to maintain the Plant Maintenance KPIs benchmarking.
- Emphasize in proactive (predictive & preventive) maintenance to reduce the corrective maintenance.
- Responsible to propose continuous improvement programme, which is contributing to wards safe, reliable, productive & cost-effective O&M practices.
- Responsible to organize & participate in the root cause analysis workshop for any plant issues.
- Responsible to generate comprehensive incident reports for any events occur in the plant in coordination with operation team.
- Responsible to propose & execute the approved continuous improvement programme, which is contributing to wards safe, reliable, productive & cost-effective O&M practices.
- Conducting Monthly review meeting with operation teams to retrospect & discuss the O&M philosophy & performance key points.
- Coordinate & provide the necessary data & documents to Engineering team for analysis & review whenever requested.
- Supervise & support the commissioning activities to be performed in compliance with approved procedures, method statements & risk assessment. Raise the punch point if any compliance deviated from its actual standards.
- Perform frequent surprise site audit to verify that the O&M practices are being performed rightly by site team as per standard procedures.
- Familiar & guide the operation team for effective usage of the Plant CMMS system to build the historical data base for real analytics.
- Ensure during shift handover all the information; data & records has been Passover to next shift with complete details & accuracy. No communication gap should evolve during shift handover.
- Ensure the contractor is delivering the required maintenance deliverable with quality as per scope of work under maintenance agreement.
- Responsible to respond on time for any emergency call outs requirements.
Team Management & Training:
- Encourage & guide the team to wards best O&M deliverables & how company objective is aligned with each individual employee objective.
- Ensure the smooth scheduling of refresher training program as per O&M Training Matrix.
Warranty Management:
- Responsible for generating warranty claims related to operation to various suppliers under warranty period.
- Ensure required information; data & documents has been maintained & submitted to supplier if requested.
Reporting Matrix & Documentation:
- Regularly audit the O&M team in order check & ensure that relevant documents records are well maintained in line with O&M agreement & OEM recommendations.
- Immediately report any plant issues to his line manager and concerned department as per communication matrix within the time frame along with possible root cause, restoration plan & future preventive/ predictive actions plan.
Interdepartmental Communication & Coordination:
- Extend the required support & proper communication to other departments & PWEs in timely manner to ensure smooth & effective operation of the company.
- Keep close & necessary Interaction with site operation & maintenance team to avoid communication gap & delay in equipment restoration.
HSSE:
- Ensure that every site activity is executed with approved procedures (SOPs), WMSRA, Risk Assessment (RA), check list (if needed) or any other supporting document if recommended.
- Ensure the O&M team & sub-contractors/ suppliers obtained PTW for each job and monitor them onsite for HSE compliances mitigations.
- Engage with site team for identification of new hazards from ongoing tasks or any new task.
- Participate/ Assist to review/ revise the task risk assessment (TRA) time to time.
- Participate actively in emergency response plan as per approved ERP.
- Support in executing the emergency response drills.
- Assist when needed in the HSE incidents/ accident investigation.
- Ensures PTW’s for all activities are issued as per approved WMSRA/ PTW/LOTO system.
- Ensures the isolations/ deisolation and LOTO applications are applied as per SLD/ switching sequence.
- Control and manage site EHS by imposing and applying NGHC-EHS policies and procedures.
- Verify the isolation & LOTO procedure for critical maintenance activities.
SKILLS / TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AREAS:
- Professional in Microsoft Operating System (MS office).
- Mechanical or Electric/Electronic components fundamental knowledge.
- Solar Plant Performance gaps evaluation & representation.
- Leadership skill, negotiation skills, proactively managing the team of operators.
- Must be able to describe the Plant Performance Issues in short & effective way.
- Knowledge of Solar Inverters System, Solar Tracking System & Substation Operation & Maintenance preferably HV/MV GIS substation.
- Advanced analytical, technical skills and knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment, as well as instrumentation & Electrical testing equipment.
- Deliverables on Time, Leadership & Adaptability: - Be Enthusiastic & energetic to provide required deliverable within the time frame with quality standard.
- Lead & guide his team in line with company objectives & deliverables.
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical or Electromechanical Engineering with minimum 5 years of experience in Leading the maintenance team within a solar plant capacity greater & equal to 100MW & minimum 3 years managerial experience in the same field.
- 4 years’ experience in maintenance of utility-scale solar power plants with minimum size of 200 MW.
