Position
Stark Works’ Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for delivering on target MU sales in the developer and end customer channels within the assigned territory.
Our BDMs will have the freedom to build and nurture a sustainable and profitable client and project pipeline. As well as MU construction, our team will develop cross selling opportunities for the wider Stark product set (e.g., EV chargers, metering, data services).
Ideally, we are looking for someone with a proven background in ICP/UIP/IDNO/IGT, utilities business development. More importantly, the right candidate will be a hungry and structured business developer, possibly an adjacent market, e.g., has worked for a house builder or in different technical product selling into housebuilders and developers.
You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to build relationships with people at all levels to ensure sales opportunities are maximised to deliver sustainable, profitable growth. It is essential that you are self-motivated, with the tenacity to maximise on leads and new business opportunities.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Ensure that monthly sales, margin and KPI targets are not only met but exceeded.
- Generation and management of a self-discovered opportunity pipeline
- In conjunction with the estimating team, ensure that all proposals are prepared and submitted within agreed timeframes and to the highest possible standard
- Ensuring that all proposals are followed through to conversion with detailed feedback.
- Provide detailed win and loss analysis – lessons learned.
- With the support of the HBD lead the opportunity development, tendering activities, and customer negotiation process.
- Effectively creating and maintaining lasting relationships with customers, engaging with key individuals to understand their opportunity/project requirements.
- Working closely with other divisions within the Stark group to maximise our client reach and overall company success.
- Understanding customer drivers and ensuring that these are incorporated into the proposed solutions.
- Provide accurate market and sales reports and feedback to support and drive the business development activity and strengthen the wider group offering.
- Staying a step ahead of the industry, monitoring best practices to make recommendations and demonstrate knowledge and capability to external and internal stakeholders.
Requirements
Essential:
- A depth of experience in a similar industry or environment or within the utilities industry.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Sales and Marketing techniques.
- Sales and Tender management including customer negotiation and commercial risk mitigations.
Desirable
- A proven background in ICP/UIP/IDNO/IGT/utilities infrastructure.
- 3+ years’ experience in Business Development or Sales positions.
- Experience within a Project Management-focused environment would be advantageous - Industry & Functional Knowledge.
- Experience of delivering site works, civils in DNO, IDNO, Commercial & Industrial environments.
