Summary
Are you an expert in energy and utilities who enjoys making a real impact? We’re looking for a Utilities Officer to join our team to work across the group co-ordinating, supporting strategic and operation management of our significant utilities and submetering portfolio. This is a permanent full-time role based in South Wales, offering flexibility with an agile working style. You’ll report to the Sustainability Lead within the Directorate of Corporate Finance and Sustainability but be collaborating and working with colleagues across the group as the go-to expert for all things utilities.

- You’ll work on the group’s preparation for heat network regulation and be responsible for co-ordinating the activities that will be required once regulation is in place.

Where Does This Role Fit In?
As Utilities Officer, you’ll be part of our Sustainability Team, working closely with colleagues across the business as the as the go-to expert for all things utilities and submetering.
What Skills & Experience Do You Need?
- Analytical mindset – You enjoy working with numbers and can break down complex information and data with the ability to identify trends, patters and anomalies.
- Attention to detail – You have a methodical approach and can handle data from multiple sources.
- Experience of utilities and the energy sector – Experience of utilities and metering is essential and experience of the UK energy or heat network sector is a bonus!
- Confidence to challenge information – You’re not afraid to question data and make sure things are correct and make sense.
- Proactive, solutions focused mindset – You enjoy tacking complex challenges and able to work independently to develop practical impactful solutions.
- Communication skills – You can explain often complex technical arrangements and concepts clearly to a range of different stakeholders.
- Experience in supplier and contract management – Particularly for utilities and broker arrangements .
- Relevant qualifications – A relevant mechanical or electrical qualification related to utility metering or heat networks would be beneficial.

What are the pay and benefits?
- The salary for this role is £40,219.00 for a 37-hour, full time permanent position.
- Agile working with location flexibility, your role will involve working throughout South Wales.
