Role Overview
As our Sustainability & EPR Specialist, you will be central to elevating our sustainability profile, enhancing our knowledge base, and ensuring compliance excellence. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, external partners, and customers to ensure that our operations, data collection, and reporting standards are not only compliant but also industry-leading. Additionally, you will lead the establishment and monitoring of Science-Based Targets (SBTs) and manage our journey to achieving EcoVadis Platinum certification.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic EPR & ESG Leadership:
- Develop and implement EPR and sustainability strategies aligned with evolving regulations and industry best practices.
- Lead ESG initiatives across both businesses, ensuring measurable outcomes in environmental impact reduction.
- Set, implement, and track Science-Based Targets to drive ambitious carbon reduction goals.
- Lead the process to achieve and maintain EcoVadis Platinum-level certification.
Operational Excellence:
- Embed sustainable practices into procurement, manufacturing, distribution, and customer-facing operations.
- Oversee the enhancement of data collection methodologies, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with UK and EU regulations.
- Manage internal data systems, integrating sustainability metrics into ERP and reporting frameworks.
Regulatory Reporting & Compliance:
- Manage and submit accurate EPR data reports, maintaining comprehensive documentation to meet regulatory requirements.
- Liaise directly with regulatory bodies, industry groups, and external auditors.
- Lead audits and maintain robust compliance frameworks.
Customer and Stakeholder Liaison:
- Act as the main point of contact for customers on EPR and sustainability queries, providing expertise and ensuring clear, proactive communication.
- Provide guidance and training to internal teams, enhancing overall sustainability literacy within the business.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
- Stay ahead of sustainability trends, legislation updates, and technological advances.
- Proactively propose and implement sustainability improvements and innovations to achieve operational excellence.
Who You Are
Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in sustainability, ESG, and EPR roles, ideally within the packaging or manufacturing sectors.
- Proven track record of successfully managing EPR reporting processes, sustainability projects, and achieving recognized sustainability certifications (such as EcoVadis).
Technical Skills:
- Deep understanding of UK/EU EPR legislation, sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, CDP), regulatory compliance, and Science-Based Targets.
- Proficient in data analysis tools, ERP systems, and reporting software.
Personal Attributes:
- Strong communicator capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- Highly organized, with excellent project management and analytical skills.
- Passionate about sustainability, proactive in keeping abreast of regulatory changes and industry advancements.
