Electrical Design Engineer (Solar PV)
We’re working with a growing renewable energy business looking to bring in an Electrical Design Engineer to support their Solar PV projects across the UK.
This role is perfect for someone with strong electrical knowledge, ideally a time-served electrician looking to move off the tools and into design and survey work. You’ll be conducting on-site surveys, assessing electrical systems for solar PV suitability, and preparing design documents including scopes of work and BOQs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out detailed surveys for commercial solar PV installations
- Identify any issues or limitations with existing electrical systems
- Prepare electrical scopes of work and bills of quantities
- Compile survey data and produce professional technical reports
- Work closely with the technical team to coordinate and prioritise site visits
- Travel to sites across the UK as needed
What You’ll Need:
- Strong understanding of electrical systems and regulations
- Previous hands-on electrical experience, ideally in solar PV
- Excellent report-writing and IT skills
- Self-motivated and well-organised
- Full UK driving licence (must be over 25 for insurance purposes)
Qualifications (minimum):
- AM2
- NVQ Level 3
- 18th Edition
- Level 3 Testing & Inspection (2394/95 or 2391)
- Level 4 Design & Verification (2396) – desirable
- Solar qualifications – desirable
