JOB DESCRIPTION
Costain have won extensive work across the water sector this year to support the AMP 8 investment cycle. We have been appointed by United Utilities as one of 7 partners to deliver £3bn of projects in the Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8) between 2025 – 2030.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and provide line management to direct reports and liaise with wider SHE Team
- Support and Influence Contract Leadership Team, Clients and Stakeholders in compliance with the SHE/ Environmental Management System and Framework/ Programme Performance, identifying risks and ensuring mitigation is in place and effective.
- Support the contract team in applying for and managing compliance with environmental permits and consents. Liaise with and manage relationships with the environmental Regulator (EA, Local authority etc).
- Ensure delivery of training and coaching, by competent individuals, to allow the contract team to successfully implement the SHE Management System
- Be actively involved in the appointment and ongoing assessment of the Contracts Supply Chain Contractors
- Actively support the delivery of the annual Contract and Group SHE Objectives including carbon reduction, BNG and water usage.
- Develop & implement a Contract Environmental Assurance programme to ensure compliance with company and statutory requirements
- Ensure all unplanned events and assurance findings are categorised, investigated and lessons are shared in accordance with the SHE Management System
- Timely reporting, analysis and use of Environmental data to support and influence the Contract Leadership Team and where required develop and implement data-based improvement plans

QUALIFICATIONS
- Environmental related experience.
- Environmental permitting experience

- Extensive relevant Environmental experience in relevant industry and experience of managing and training others.
- Variety of contract/ sector requiring different skills/ knowledge

- Relevant Degree or equivalent (NVQ Level 6)

- Institute of Leadership and Management Level 5 Line Managers tool kit or equivalent. Commercial Awareness Programme/Project management
- Specialist environmental courses- e.g. noise measurement, waste, contaminated land, CL:AIRE DOWCOP etc
