We are looking for an experienced
Principal Engineer to join our team. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be a key player in our engineering department, collaborating closely with the systems architect, software engineers, data engineers, data scientists and other stakeholders. Your role will drive the adoption and consumption of AI powered services across the organisation and you will lead the design and development of our AI first architectural vision.
What you will do:
- Catalyse the adoption of AI/ML: Drive the adoption and integration of AI services, ensuring seamless integration with the rest of our platform services.
- Innovate: Contribute to the adoption of internal AI deliverables that we want to place central to our proposition.
- Collaborate: Closely work with the solution architect and the data engineers, software engineers, the data innovation team, and other stakeholders to understand architectural requirements and deliver innovative solutions.
- Design & Develop: Create and maintain scalable architectures and services in the relevant technologies that apply.
- Optimize: Monitor and optimize the performance of systems to ensure reliability and efficiency.
- Ensure Quality: Ensure the quality and integrity of our code and adherence to our architectural vision.
What skills and experience you should have to fit this role:
Required
- Proven professional experience as a software engineer with a focus on architectural design, service-oriented architectures and AI/ML service integration.
- Experience building agentic AI systems in Python and associated frameworks such as, but not limited to, LangChain/LangGraph, CrewAI, Smolagents or similar.
- Comprehensive experience implementing end-to-end RAG pipelines, including working with vector databases (such as Pinecone, OpenSearch), developing effective document chunking strategies, and selecting appropriate embeddings for diverse knowledge bases
- Deep understanding and experience of designing, building and deploying applications into at least one cloud service provider such as AWS, Azure or GCP including LLM hosting technologies such as AWS bedrock.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a great engineering and experimentation mindset.
Desirable
- Hands-on experience with various AWS technologies.
- Fundamental understanding of how LLMs work and how to operate them at scale.
- Some understanding of LLM fine tuning and ideal prompting strategies.
- Able to work with AI code generation tooling, such as Cursor, Continue, Cline, Windsurf in a responsible way, ensuring that our standards are maintained.
- Knowledge of the electric vehicle industry is a plus.
- Experience working for a product centric organization.
- Familiar with Agile principles and best practices such as peer code review, pair programming etc.
