Sustainability and ESG Engagement Officer - 12 month FTC
About The Role
Support the Head of Sustainability and ESG to lead and support engagement initiatives that promote ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles across the organisation. This role involves working with internal stakeholders, sustainability champions, and external partners to drive behavioural change, deliver impactful campaigns, and support ESG reporting and compliance. The role will be full time, 9am-5.30pm, Monday to Friday and report into the Head of ESG & Sustainability on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract. We work on a hybrid basis with one working from home day per week, the other working days in the Old Trafford, Manchester Office.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Engagement & Communication
- Develop and deliver internal campaigns to raise awareness of ESG goals.
- Manage and grow the Social Value Champion Committee.
- Collaborate with marketing team to create engaging content for intranet, newsletters, and events.
- Promote volunteering opportunities internally.
Programme Support
- Assist in the design and implementation of ESG strategies and sustainability initiatives.
- Organise and support events such as volunteering, fundraising, workshops, and webinars.
- Promote and facilitate sustainability learning opportunities across internal departments and external stakeholders.
- Attending webinars with various partners to gain insight into future projects and regulatory/framework requirements.
- Writing award submissions
Data & Reporting
- Support the collection and analysis of ESG metrics and sustainability performance data.
- Contribute to internal and external ESG reporting, including compliance with relevant frameworks, certifications and accreditations (e.g. PPN 002, PPN 003, PPN 006, ISO 14001, Ecovadis and SECR).
- Maintaining and Updating the Social Value Portal
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work with departments to embed sustainability into operational practices.
- Liaise with external partners, NGOs, and Public Sector bodies on ESG initiatives.
- Working closely with the Tenders team to carry out local needs analysis to support ESG bid responses.
About You.
- Ideally, experience in sustainability, ESG, or corporate responsibility roles.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Knowledge of ESG frameworks and sustainability reporting standards.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital collaboration tools (e.g., Teams, SharePoint and Excel).
- Comfortable using own initiative and working effectively as part of a team
