EIA Consultant - Water
Cardiff (3 days/week in office) | Hybrid
Permanent | Full-time
Looking to step out of the corporate machine and into a role where your voice matters, your work makes a difference and your career truly moves forward?
We’re working with a specialist environmental consultancy known for its innovative approach to water and renewables projects across the UK. They’re now looking for an experienced EIA Consultant to join their growing team in Cardiff.
This is a chance to wear multiple hats, combining technical water-focused work with EIA project coordination, client interaction and mentoring junior staff. If you’re someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and wants a role with depth, challenge and visible impact, this could be your perfect fit.
Why This Role Stands Out
- True variety, not box-ticking: You’ll be involved in everything from technical report writing to mentoring grads and leading client meetings. No two weeks look the same.
- Growth in a thriving sector: With a strong and growing project pipeline across onshore wind, solar and infrastructure, your expertise will be put to work where it matters.
- Tight-knit, values-driven team: This is a smaller consultancy where you’re known by name, not number and where great ideas move fast.
- Step up into leadership: You’ll help oversee and develop junior team members, ideal for someone looking to build their managerial confidence while staying close to delivery.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Coordinating and contributing to Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) for a range of renewable and infrastructure projects
- Writing and reviewing technical appendices relating to hydrology, hydrogeology, flood risk, water quality and private water supplies
- Liaising with clients, statutory bodies and stakeholders to ensure timely and compliant project delivery
- Conducting or supporting field surveys and interpreting technical data
- Supporting or leading project management, ensuring scopes, budgets and timelines are met
- Delegating tasks and providing guidance to 3–5 graduate consultants, helping to develop their skills and confidence
About You
- 3–10 years’ experience in EIA consultancy, ideally with a focus on water-related disciplines
- Comfortable managing your own projects and contributing to multi-disciplinary teams
- Able to write clear, concise technical reports and assess environmental risks
- Experience engaging with clients and regulatory authorities
- Confident mentoring or delegating to more junior colleagues
- (Bonus) Knowledge of flood modelling tools or previous involvement in solar/wind farm assessments
About the Company
- Offices in Cardiff with a supportive and collaborative environment
- Clear internal pathways for growth, with mentorship from Technical Directors and Principals
