About SWG Construction
At SWG Construction, we’re building more than just projects — we’re creating a safer, greener, and higher-quality future across the Midlands and Mid-Wales.
We’re an ambitious, fast-growing SME delivering high-quality, sustainable build and renovation projects. We hold ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certifications, as well as CHAS and Constructionline Gold, embedding safety, environmental stewardship, and quality excellence into everything we do.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive Environmental & Compliance Manager to lead our integrated management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and oversee all SHEQ / HSEQ / QHSE compliance activities.
This is not a purely “boots-on-site” Health and Safety role — monthly independent H&S audits are carried out by a specialist third-party. Your focus will be on managing those reports, ensuring close-out of actions, driving continual improvement, and embedding environmental, sustainability, and quality best practice across the business.
It’s an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in environmental management, quality management, compliance, or health and safety who wants to make a real impact in a growing, forward-thinking construction SME.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and continually improve our ISO-certified management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
- Oversee third-party monthly Health and Safety audits, ensuring findings are actioned and compliance maintained.
- Lead environmental initiatives, including delivery of our Carbon Reduction Plan, emissions reporting, and sustainability training.
- Deliver engaging compliance and awareness training for staff and subcontractors.
- Conduct internal audits and inspections, producing actionable reports for senior leadership.
- Support project teams in meeting client compliance requirements.
- Liaise with accreditation bodies, clients, and regulatory authorities.
- Track and report SHEQ / HSEQ / QHSE performance metrics and recommend improvement actions.
What You’ll Bring
- Relevant qualification in environmental management, quality management, health and safety, or related field (e.g. NEBOSH, IEMA, IRCA).
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Experience in a compliance, environmental, HSEQ, QHSE, or health and safety role — ideally within construction or a related industry such as manufacturing, facilities management, or utilities.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
What We Offer
- Competitive package with car allowance, aligned to experience and qualifications.
- 33 days’ holiday (including bank holidays) and company pension scheme.
- Hybrid working options.
- A supportive, family-feel culture where your expertise shapes how we work and grow.
