We are seeking a talented and motivated PV Solar Design Engineer to join our Energy Infrastructure Solutions business. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the energy transition and help customers achieve their Net Zero goals.
This is a home-based role, but requires regular travel within the UK (North West).
What You'll Be Doing
As a key member of our B2B Solutions team, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle design of solar PV projects. You'll work on a variety of commercial and industrial installations, from initial spatially coordinated designs to final commissioning. This role involves collaboration with various departments, including Sales, Project Management, and Installation teams, to ensure successful project delivery.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Creating detailed designs using AutoCAD, including 3D modelling and electrical single-line diagrams.
- Performing computer simulations to optimize system performance and efficiency.
- Reviewing and approving PV designs, and recommending technical improvements.
- Working with our supply chain to select and specify project components.
- Communicating effectively with clients to ensure design proposals are understood.
- Adhering to quality and safety standards while developing new processes as needed.
What We're Looking For:
We need someone with strong engineering and design skills, a proven track record in various PV schemes (both rooftop and ground mount), and a proactive working style. You should be familiar with PV manufacturers and components, and have detailed design experience in areas like small wiring and containment. A solid understanding of relevant legislation, including HSSE and CDM responsibilities, is essential.
Required skills and experience:
- Experience with standard design software like AutoCAD and PV*SOL/PVSyst.
- Thorough knowledge of current legislation and safety standards.
- Experience with DNO G99 Applications.
- A full UK/EU driving license.
An engineering qualification (e.g., Degree/HNC) and knowledge of LV and HV electrical works would be a great advantage.
