Purpose of the position: As Ecological Clerk of Work you will be part of the QHSE department within the Environmental team. You will support, oversee and monitor the Construction Contractor with the implementation of measures defined within the OCEMP. You will ensure pre-construction surveys are undertaken and any advance mitigation measures required are implemented. You will join our ENI Liverpool Bay Project (Decommissioning & Carbon Capture and Storage).
How can you support us? Here below your responsibilities:
- Provide ecological advice to the Construction Contractor over the entire construction program
- Undertake or oversee pre-construction surveys for protected species in the areas affected by the TCPA Proposed Development
- Monitor ecological conditions during the Construction Stage to identify additional constraints that may arise as a result of natural changes to ecological baseline over time (e.g. the monitoring of badger activity within and in close proximity to construction works)
- Provide ecological toolbox talks to site personnel (including ecological receptors) to make them aware of ecological constraints and information;
- Highlight mitigation to minimize impacts and make site personnel aware of their responsibility with regards to wildlife and sensitive habitats in the context of legislation and policy
- Monitor the implementation of mitigation measures during the Construction Stage to ensure compliance with protected species legislation, licensing, and commitments within the ES
- Deliver coherent and timely solutions to ecological constraints;
What are we looking for?
Education: BEng or BSc majoring in ecology or environment sciences or similar
Experience: 10 years in ecological activities possibly for an Oil&Gas project with environmental challenges
Technical knowledge: UK and/or Welsh environmental legislation, habitat and protected species ecology
Certification: Membership of the CIEEM and/or of the AEECoW or working towards it, UK driving licence
