As we enter a new phase of growth and transformation, we're looking for a COO to bring clarity, rigour and momentum to the internal operations of the business.
The Role
We're seeking a strategically sharp and ruthlessly effective Chief Operating Officer. This role is about making things happen — faster, cleaner, and with less friction. You'll lead our Data and People functions, own business-wide operational execution, and act as the internal engine for AI-led transformation across the company.
You don't need to be a data scientist or an ad sales expert — but you do need to be the person who resolves stuck initiatives, and sets up the systems that let good people execute better and faster.
Strategy & Execution
- Rapidly build understanding of all areas of the Mumsnet business and act as a "fixer" for stuck or misaligned initiatives
- Step in as needed to lead cross-functional projects where ownership is unclear or ineffective and drive things forward with pace
- Define and drive operational priorities that improve how Mumsnet functions day to day
Data Leadership
- Lead the Data function to deliver consistent, trusted, and decision-grade insights
- Maximise the business value of our centralised data platform (Cortex), ensuring it underpins product, editorial, commercial and strategy decisions
- Champion a "so what?" culture around data — ensuring analysis leads to clear, actionable insights that deepen our understanding of user behaviour and drive action
- Partner with other teams to ensure the right metrics are defined, measured, and operationalised
AI Transformation
- Lead Mumsnet's business transformation through AI — acting as both thought leader and execution driver
- Continually identify and implement AI and automation opportunities that cut costs, increase productivity, or create new user experiences
- Track emerging developments in agentic AI and tooling, and connect those to practical use cases within the business
- Drive adoption of AI across functions, ensuring teams have the training, tools and confidence to integrate new approaches into their workflows
People & Culture
- Lead the People/HR function to drive high performance, personal accountability, and ownership culture
- Improve hiring practices to ensure better calibration, speed, and retention
- Oversee internal systems such as onboarding, feedback, and performance reviews
Revenue Operations (RevOps)
- Own the operational systems, workflows, and reporting that underpin commercial delivery and revenue recognition
- Work with CRO, ad ops, finance and data teams to identify and fix pain points in pricing, campaign activation, and billing
- Build out commercial reporting in partnership with the Data team and drive a cadence of revenue health reviews

- Demonstrable track record of improving operations across functions (e.g. data, people, commercial ops, cross-functional delivery)
- Clear, fast, and rigorous executor — someone who thrives in action, not abstraction
- Strong systems/process orientation with an obsession for simplifying and speeding up how work happens
- Deep interest in AI and automation and how they can be used practically in a business
- Comfort leading without asking permission — self-directed, accountable, and resourceful
