Role Overview
As Head of Network Operations, you will lead the Network Operations Centre to ensure network reliability and performance align with organisational goals. Key duties include managing assets, resolving Tier 2 and 3 issues, maintaining EV charging networks, solar farms, and BESS assets, and driving improvements in processes and technology. You'll also focus on optimising both assets and systems to maximise efficiency and operational effectiveness. You'll work closely with field services to enhance maintenance procedures, act as the main contact for charger manufacturers, and hold full P&L responsibility.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the network operations centre, ensuring the reliability, availability, and safety of critical network assets while fostering a driven and proactive team culture.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve network maintenance and Field Service strategies, policies, and procedures in line with organisational goals and industry best practices, with a strong emphasis on adopting and championing new innovations and technologies.
- Manage and mentor the team, inspiring a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Plan and control the Network Operations budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources without compromising quality and safety.
- Coordinate with engineering, customer, and procurement teams to optimise maintenance scheduling, asset lifecycle management, and capital projects.
- Drive the implementation of predictive and preventative maintenance programs leveraging data analytics, condition monitoring, and emerging technologies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, health and safety standards, and company policies.
- Lead risk management assessments and implement mitigation strategies related to network maintenance activities.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for maintenance operations, preparing and presenting regular reports to senior leadership.
- Develop contingency plans and lead response efforts for network failures or emergencies, minimising downtime and service disruption.
- Champion ongoing professional development for the maintenance team through training, mentoring, and skills development initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with charger manufacturers and other major suppliers, leading negotiations to secure agreements that advance operational excellence and support the objectives of the operations department.
Required Experience
- Extensive experience in network and asset management for EV chargers, solar, EV assets, or related industries.
- Proven leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary technical teams.
- Experience in developing and executing maintenance strategies for large-scale network assets.
- Strong background in safety management and regulatory compliance.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to maintenance optimisation.
- Proficiency in maintenance management systems (CMMS), asset management software, and data analytics tools.
- Financial acumen with experience managing budgets and cost control.
- Ability to lead change and drive innovation in maintenance practices.
Required Qualifications and Certifications
- Degree in Engineering, Asset Management, or a related technical discipline.
- Membership to a relevant governing body (e.g. IET, IMechE, IEEE or Equivalent)
- Professional certifications related to maintenance management, asset management, or health and safety (e.g., CMIOSH, IRCA, IAM, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
