Purpose Of Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced EV Operations Manager to lead and optimise the day-to-day operations across one of our regional EV charging infrastructure networks. This role is critical in ensuring the seamless management, maintenance, and performance of our charging equipment, ensuring that we continue to maintain a safe, reliable and customer focused network as we continue to grow in line with our ambitious growth targets. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in operations management, a passion for sustainability, efficiency, continuous improvement and a deep understanding of EV technologies and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership: Oversee the daily operations of EV charging equipment in both a reactive and preventative environment, to ensure maximum uptime and customer satisfaction is achieved
- Team Management: Lead and develop a team of field engineers, operations coordinators, and support staff and work closely with other key business functions to deliver high-performance outcomes
- Performance Monitoring: Track and report on KPIs such as charger availability, energy throughput, maintenance response times, and customer feedback. Implement continuous improvement initiatives
- External Partner management and Coordination: Build, develop and Manage relationships with third-party contractors to build a partnership culture and ensure service level agreements (SLAs), a health and safety mentality and full operational compliance is met at all times
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all operations comply with local regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental policies as well as reporting on incidents, risks and mitigation proposals. Actively promote a positive safety culture that complies with business policy and HSE legislation
- Budget & Resource Management: Develop and manage operational budgets, optimise resource allocation, and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Project Implementation: Support the rollout of new EV infrastructure projects, by feeding back lessons learnt and supporting where possible to develop a right first time culture in delivery
- Customer Experience: Collaborate with customer service teams to resolve escalated issues and improve the user experience
- Reporting: Prepare and present monthly reports on KPI performance across our network of chargers, including any improvement plans to the CNOO and to the board via the monthly board report
- Work closely with delivery team to conduct successful handover to operations
- Develop operational procedures and processes to optimise efficiencies
- Create and manage preventative maintenance programs in accordance with BS7671 regulations
- Identify resource requirements and support in any recruitment activities
Key competencies/behaviours:
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, standards and processes for EV infrastructure
- A successful track record of managing operational programs is essential (within a highways related environment would be advantageous)
- Contract experience including an awareness of maintenance clauses, risk and commercial requirements
- Ability to work under pressure to deadlines, and a flexible attitude towards work in order to deal with a variable and demanding workload
- CSCS Card and SMSTS qualified would be advantageous
- Understanding of highways design standards and practices would be advantageous
- Project Management based qualification such as PRINCE2/APMP or equivalent preferred but not essential
- Knowledge & understanding of health & safety legislation including The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
- Ability to confidently deliver presentations and report to both junior and senior colleagues
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience of managing a multi-disciplined team
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages (MS Word, Excel, Project)
Requirements
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Logistics, or a related field is preferred but not essential
- Higher National Certificate or Diploma (HNCs/HND or equivalent) in an engineering related field or fully qualified Electrician with 5+ years' experience is essential
- 5+ years of experience in operations management, preferably in the EV, automotive, or energy sector.
- Strong understanding of EV charging infrastructure.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
- Proficiency in operational software, data analysis tools, and project management platforms
- Clean UK driving license
Must be eligible to work in the UK.
