As a
Social Value Consultant, you’ll likely have a few years’ experience in your social value career and will join a growing team of social value and equity professionals. Together, we support our clients develop creative and innovative approaches that put people at heart.
You will help us grow how we deliver social value offer for our clients, supporting our teams to understand social value and working across a diverse portfolio of projects including some of the biggest infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland, Our team delivers projects from the early planning stages right through to construction, and we are looking for enthusiastic, flexible people who are keen to learn and be part of a supportive, successful team.
The role will include
Understanding and assessing social impacts
- Analysing demographic trends and assessment project/programme impacts
- Interpreting local, regional and national social priorities.
- Use of data tools (e.g., Excel, GIS) to analyse trends and identify opportunities
- building relationships with stakeholders to ensure we’re delivering real benefits and maximising outcomes.
Generating Social Value
- designing and implementing social value strategies and plans that reflect what communities and clients need
- Using strategic thinking and data analysis to identify innovative approaches that maximise impact for clients.
Measuring Social Value
- Monitor and report social value, including tracking progress, telling impact stories and gathering evidence that shows the value of our work, using tried and tested tools and approaches
- apply understanding of social valuation techniques to help quantify and communicate impact.
Evidencing and Improving Approaches
- Help us learn what’s working well, both within projects and across industries and sectors by supporting reviews and audits.
- Stay up to date with best practices across the industry and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Here's what you'll need
- An understanding of data analysis/local needs analysis and stakeholder engagement
- Experience or evidenced understanding of carrying out specialist impact assessments, including Equality Impact Assessment, socio-economic assessments
- Experience in the delivery of social value strategies and engagement plan for projects and programmes
- Knowledgeable about social value including relevant legislation, Government policies across the UK, and new thinking/thought leadership around the social value agenda
- Understanding of social value measurement principles and ideally experience in delivering, monitoring, and evaluating social value outcomes.
- High level of communication and negotiation skills
- Analytical and able to understand local and national trends
- Excellent writing skills, including development of strategies, plans, reports and funding applications
- Flexibility to travel to meet project demands
- A degree or equivalent experience or qualification in sustainability, social value, or related subject
- Ability to work from a Jacobs or client office in Leeds three days a week on average
