Our vision is to create a banking industry that serves everyone, which we accomplish by developing best-in-class proprietary technology, offering an exceptional customer experience, and establishing a strong, sustainable business.
Our five core values - Listen, Keep It Simple, Do The Right Thing, Own It, and Aim for Greatness - are at the heart of everything we do, guiding our strategy and shaping our culture. We're a branchless, largely paperless bank, committed to responsible banking, sustainability, and fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.

Reporting to: Operations Risk & Control Testing Manager
Closing date: Wednesday 22nd October, 9am.
At Starling, we build smart, customer-focused banking and want our controls to be just as strong. We're looking for an Operations Risk & Control Testing Analyst to help us test, challenge, and strengthen the controls that underpin our Operations function.
Please note, this is a risk focused role, not technology testing role.
What you'll be doing
- Testing key controls across Operations, covering customer servicing, financial assistance, onboarding, payments, financial crime checks, and complaints.
- Checking how controls are designed and how effectively they operate day to day.
- Documenting testing outcomes clearly and consistently, ensuring findings are evidence-based and accurate.
- Identifying weaknesses or gaps in control design or execution, raising issues promptly.
- Supporting risk and control owners in tracking and implementing remediation.
- Feeding insights into risk and control reporting and the RCSA process.
- Maintaining awareness of regulatory requirements and operational risks relevant to retail banking.
- Suggesting improvements to testing methods and helping embed best practice within the team.
Requirements
- 2-3 years' experience in control testing, risk, assurance, monitoring, or audit, ideally within retail banking.
- Good knowledge of retail banking operations, products, and related risks (customer outcomes, consumer duty, payments, financial crime).
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Confidence to test, challenge, and escalate when something doesn't look right.
- Clear communication skills, written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently while contributing as part of a team.
- A real interest in how digital banking operations work and how we can keep improving them.
