As a Data Analyst within the Data & Reporting Team, you will lead the development and enhancement of data-driven insights that anticipate and address evolving business needs. This role combines advanced analytics, business acumen, and technical expertise to deliver impactful reporting solutions and drive continuous improvement.
What You’ll Be Doing
The Data Analyst is accountable for delivering high-quality, accurate, and timely reporting solutions that support strategic and operational decision-making across SP Energy Networks Customer Services. This includes leading the design and implementation of reports, dashboards, and performance metrics aligned with regulatory and business requirements. The role is responsible for ensuring data integrity, driving continuous improvement in reporting processes and proactively identifying opportunities to enhance business insight. The Data Analyst will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex data into actionable intelligence, ensuring alignment with SPENs strategic priorities and compliance obligations
Analytical & Reporting Responsibilities
Translates data into actionable insights for decision-making and performance improvement
Supports preparation of submissions to Ofgem and other regulatory bodies
Develops Dashboards and KPI’s to track business and operational performance
Change and Project Environment
Engages in cross-functional projects, often as a lead analyst or SME
Operates within agile delivery environments, adapting to project scope through iterative planning and continuous feedback
Identifies opportunities to streamline reporting processes and enhance data capabilities
Cultural and Behavioural Context
Works closely with business stakeholders across Customer Service
Crafts compelling data narratives tailored to non-technical audiences, including executives
Provides guidance and support to other analysts, sharing expertise and promoting best practices in data analysis
What You’ll Bring
- Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Analytics, Business, Computer Science)
- Experience in a Data Analyst role or comparable analytical role, ideally within regulated or customer-centric industry such as utilities or telecoms
- Strong background in data analysis, reporting, and performance management
- Experience working with large datasets and enterprise reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Excel)
- Proficiency in data querying and transformation (Python, R, SQL, Power Query)
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a track record of identifying root causes, uncovering trends, and generating actionable insights
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of tailoring complex data narratives to non-technical audiences, including executives and front-line teams
- High standards of data quality, accuracy, and completeness
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting, balancing multiple priorities and adapting to evolving business needs
- Experience applying Agile principles to data projects (e.g., sprint-based reporting, iterative dashboard development), with flexibility in managing change
- Skilled in mentoring analysts, sharing expertise, and promoting data literacy across teams
- Proactive in anticipating business needs and applying analytical approaches to solve evolving challenges
