As Capital Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role within a high-performing capital team, contributing to the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of Construction and Engineering projects across the Christie NHS Foundation Trust. Your work will span both the hospital estate and satellite centres throughout Greater Manchester and Cheshire.
You’ll be responsible for managing capital and revenue-funded projects ranging from £5,000 to £3 million, including:
- Major asset replacements – ensuring critical infrastructure is modernized and maintained
- Refurbishment projects – enhancing clinical and non-clinical environments to improve patient care and staff experience
New build developments – delivering innovative spaces that support cutting-edge treatment and research
Project Planning & Delivery
- Lead capital projects from feasibility through to completion across all RIBA stages.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and documentation.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet strategic and operational goals.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with clinical teams, estates, contractors, and external consultants.
- Chair project meetings and communicate progress to stakeholders.
Technical Oversight
- Provide advice on construction, engineering, and sustainability.
- Ensure compliance with NHS guidance, HTM/HBN standards, CDM regulations, and Building Safety Act
Financial Management
- Forecast and manage capital budgets across multiple projects.
- Ensure value for money and effective resource allocation.
Policy & Strategy Development
- Support the development of capital management policies and procedures.
Quality & Sustainability
- Promote high standards of design, construction, and environmental sustainability.
Risk & Issue Management
- Identify and mitigate project risks and dependencies.
- Respond to emergencies and adapt plans as needed
