Vestas V90 Experience Is Essential
Our company's Wind O&M team covers a 150MW portfolio of wind farms across the UK. Our capability has grown steadily over recent years and we have substantial hands-on experience of operating and maintaining turbines of varying type and age from multi-megawatt full converter turbines to a variety of older types. The wind O&M business sits within our company's Field Services in the UK which operates as a truly multidiscipline contractor, providing design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance services.
Services provided by the Wind O&M team include scheduled and unscheduled turbine maintenance, fault finding, spares management and procurement, major repairs including gearbox, generator, yaw gear and blade replacement, turbine erection and dismantling and asset condition inspections. Our site management services typically include regular site inspections, site inductions, HV network management and switching, emergency response, management of balance of plant maintenance, SCADA monitoring and reporting, site work control including operation control under the Wind Turbine Safety Rules
We have a vacancy for a Wind Turbine Technician to primarily support the Operations and Maintenance of our company's O&M Portfolio primarily around the Midlands and Southwest region. Additional opportunities are emerging across the UK wide for other Windfarm locations. The role would lead to Authorised Technician role for the right candidate.
Working as part of a local team candidates for this role are expected to:
- Adhere to the requirements of Health & Safety Legislation, relevant company/client HSE rules & guidance and Wind Turbine Safety Rules,
- Perform routine scheduled maintenance on primarily Vestas V90 Wind Turbine mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. There may be opportunities to work on other Turbine platforms such as Siemens B37, B62 1.3MW/ Vestas, V42/44/47, V90 MK7 2MW
- Respond to breakdowns and undertake unscheduled maintenance, conduct fault finding and failure analysis,
- Be expected to achieve the role of a Wind Turbine Safety Rules Authorised Technician on a variety of Wind Turbine platforms
- Accurately record details of work completed and parts used on our company's Maintenance Management System, Approved Written Procedures, service checklists etc,
- Support other teams in completing major component exchanges,
- Can work as part of a team but equally show strong initiative & confidence to make decisions,
- Assist in the full scope of site operations,
- Communicate effectively to clients and all levels within the business in both written and verbal formats,
- Conduct themselves in a professional manner in accordance with company values,
- Participate in share on call rota for weekends and bank holidays
- The candidate is expected to show a reasonable level of flexibility to meet the needs of the role and the wider company.
Here's What You'll Need
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- A full UK driving licence
- Minimum of NVQ/SVQ Level 3 in Electrical/Mechanical engineering or equivalent
- The ideal candidate will also have served at least a year in a recognised apprenticeship
- Experience of servicing, maintenance and fault finding of wind turbines.
- Current full GWO basic training certification would be highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with the application and use of safe systems of work, including working in accordance with Wind Turbine Safety Rules.
- Previously held a certified or Authorised technician role.
