Coventry University’s (CU) Centre for Advanced Low-Carbon Propulsion Systems (C-ALPS) is seeking to recruit a capable and experienced Principal Engineer with a demonstrable track record to provide expertise and technical leadership supporting the delivery of research and development activities in the field of Hydrogen energy and propulsion system technologies.
The centre has recently seen multi-million pound investment in its hydrogen research and development infrastructure, which has established it as one of the UK’s leading open centres for development and testing of hydrogen energy technologies including fuel cells and electrolysers. These facilities are supporting a wide range of exciting, collaborative R&D projects with partners from across academia and industry, from small SME start-ups to large, global businesses.
The role will be based at C-ALPS and will primarily be leading on commercially-funded test and development projects, whilst providing engineering support to partners and academic staff undertaking grant-funded research projects (e.g. Innovate UK, HORIZON EUROPE).
The post holder will manage and oversee all stages of technical projects, including engagement with external partners (such as founding global partner FEV), clients and collaborators along with C-ALPS academics and technical staff, proposal development and hands-on, technical delivery of laboratory-based R&D activities.
We are seeking engineers with relevant training and demonstrable practical experience in thermo-mechanical and electrical systems, industrial automation and/or control systems (e.g. LabVIEW based). Prior experience with hydrogen technologies and electro-chemical systems would be advantageous. The position is a non-academic role, but the post holder may be required to support teaching activities from time to time (e.g. laboratory practical exercises).
