The RoleWe’re looking for a Senior Renewables Engineer to join our expanding team of technical experts. You’ll play a key role in delivering and supporting renewable energy projects — particularly air and ground source heat pumps, solar PV, battery storage, and hybrid systems.
This role combines hands-on installation and commissioning with technical leadership. You’ll oversee junior engineers, ensure installations meet VitoEnergy’s exacting standards, and help develop best-practice guidance for our partner network.
Key Responsibilities- Lead or support installation and commissioning of air/ground source heat pumps, solar thermal, working alongside pv and battery systems.
- Carry out system diagnostics, fault-finding, and performance optimisation.
- Liaise with clients, project managers, and subcontractors to ensure seamless delivery.
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior team members.
- Contribute to design reviews, commissioning plans, and quality audits.
- Maintain detailed installation records, photos, and commissioning data.
- Uphold VitoEnergy’s standards for safety, workmanship, and customer service.
Required Skills & Experience- Minimum 5 years’ experience in heating or renewables, ideally with air/ground source heat pump commissioning.
- NVQ Level 3 Plumbing & Heating (or equivalent trade qualification).
- G3 Unvented, and Part L certification desirable.
- Strong understanding of hydronic system design, controls, and fault-finding.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regionally.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Desirable- MCS understanding, NICEIC, or RECC experience.
- Solar PV or battery installation qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds 2399).
- Experience on commercial or listed-building projects.
- Ability to train or mentor others.
