My client wishes to recruit a Head of Hydrogen Project Delivery. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Programme Leader with significant experience of delivering large High-Profile Capital Projects in the UK in the energy or infrastructure sector

Purpose of the Role
To lead the planning, execution, and delivery of the largest Low Carbon Hydrogen Project in the UK. Be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day management of the Main Works Contract (MWC) for the project under NEC4 option C. The role will ensure the project is efficiently and safely delivered on time, within budget, and to the right quality. The role will also oversee the timely transition from MWC into commissioning and COD, then O&M.
Key Responsibilities
- Project/Programme Leadership: Oversee the delivery of the first-of-a-kind Low Carbon Hydrogen infrastructure project through completion of engineering design, construction, commissioning to handover of the facility into production and O&M.
- Contract/commercial Management: Lead the development and implementation of commercial strategies aligned with NEC4 Option C principles. Ensure compliance with the NEC4 Option C (Target Cost with Activity Schedule). Manage activity schedules, early warnings, compensation events, and risk registers in collaboration with the MWC.
- Monitor actual versus target costs and drive efficiencies to optimise client outcomes.
- Lead the assessment and agreement of defined costs and pain/gain share mechanisms.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Engage with regulators (e.g., HSE), local authorities, landowners, and community stakeholders to ensure project success and compliance.
- Governance & Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to health & safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, including CDM and ISO frameworks alongside COMAH regulations.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary team of SHEQ, engineers, OEMs and commercial specialists.
- Innovation & Sustainability:
- Drive innovation in project delivery, including digital construction, modularisation, and low-carbon materials.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related field (Chartered status preferred)
- Significant experience delivering large capital projects in the energy or infrastructure sector
- Proven track record in managing £100M+ programmes & projects
- Experience with NEC4 option C or similar contract forms
- Experience working and reporting into Board of Director level. Comfortable and highly effective at reporting/presenting at Investor, key stakeholder, Board and Steerco Level.
