Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Estates Officer to join our dynamic Estates and Facilities team at the Royal Gwent Hospital.
This is a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the hospital’s estate.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of building services, maintenance operations, and minor works projects. You will work closely with contractors, technical staff, and other stakeholders to ensure high standards of service delivery and compliance with statutory regulations.
Main duties of the job
- Oversee the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance across the hospital estate.
- Manage and supervise external contractors and in-house maintenance teams.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, HTMs, and other relevant standards.
- Support the development and implementation of maintenance schedules and asset management plans.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of minor capital works and refurbishment projects.
- Monitor and report on performance indicators, service levels, and budgetary controls.
- Liaise with clinical and non-clinical departments to ensure estates services meet operational needs.
- Contribute to sustainability initiatives and energy efficiency improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, statutory inspections, and risk assessments.
- Participate in on-call rota and emergency response procedures as required.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications And/or Knowledge

- Professional knowledge acquired to degree level or equivalent
- Management/supervisors studies
- Served a recognised apprenticeship
- Postgraduate qualification in building services
- Knowledge of REVIT and BIM software
- Knowledge of all Microsoft applications
