Gareth and his team at Edwards Garden Design & Maintenance (est 1998) provide a garden maintenance service to private gardens and estates around Monmouthshire, The Wye Valley, The Forest of Dean, South Gloucestershire. We generally work in large estates and historic landscapes that can be both challenging and fulfilling.
Gareth is looking to add an Assistant Gardener to his current team. Historic landscapes, orchards, kitchen gardens, family gardens, formal gardens and wildlife gardens, the work will encompass routine grounds maintenance and high standard horticultural practices. This particular role will involve extensive work in a new vineyard, family garden & kitchen garden near Abergavenny as well as gardens closer to The Severn.
Initially freelance & part-time (currently 4 days a week) the ambition is to develop the role into full-time as the workload increases.
Duties include:
· Extensive work in a newly established vineyard
· Routine estate and garden maintenance tasks
· Weeding
· Pruning
· Strimming, brushcutting, mowing
· Orchard work
· Hedgecutting
· Planting and maintaining new plantings
· Working with a team, working independently
Requirements:
· Basic knowledge of plants, flowers, and trees
· Willingness to learn
· Ideally some previous experience in gardening
· Ability to operate gardening tools and equipment safely
· Physical stamina to perform tasks that require bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods of time
· Attention to detail to ensure the proper care of plants and landscapes
· Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or as part of a team
· Must have own transport as we cover a wide area
