GIS Developer
Salary: approx. £60k - £80k plus bonus + benefits
Remote based role (company HQ in London so some travel will be expected)
Petroplan are recruiting for a GIS Developer to join a European Development business who are rapidly expanding their activities in the UK across Utility Scale Projects.
The GIS Developer will support various teams across the companies UK Development but working closely with the Development Director and his team in managing the development of renewables projects across the UK and will be directly assisting the development activities of the projects, including the land parcel search via GIS backed platform, liaison with our grid connection manager for his geo-spatial requirements, and set-up and day-to-day management of the project related GIS specific queries.
As a GIS Developer will work at the intersection of data analysis, programming, and cartography.
Primary duties will include analysing spatial data through mapping software and designing digital maps with geographic data and various other data sets.
Essentials:
* 5+ years' experience in GIS & spatial analysis.
* Install, configure, or monitor ESRI ArcGIS software i.e., Pro Desktop, ArcGIS Online.
* Experience developing GIS solutions using ArcGIS, OpenLayers (or other scripting tools)
and mapping SDKs including programming experience.
* Strong SQL skills and experience with PostGIS Database.
* Develop new GIS web-based applications and maintain and enhance existing.
* Spatial data management and PostGIS database management.
* Create, modify, and maintain custom scripts and routines for GIS processes automation and applications.
* Able to work collaboratively across a team.
* Excellent report writing, communication and project management skills.
* A flexible attitude to work and the ability to travel regularly throughout the UK.
* Renewable energy project development experience is plus.
* Experience of supporting multiple on-site project teams.
Desirables:
* At least 3 years of experience developing web and desktop GIS applications.
* Strong knowledge of opensource GIS tools especially FME, QGIS, GDAL.
* Experience of various GIS tools/systems both commercial and open source.
* Provide technical support to end users and track and resolve issues using Microsoft Project, Teams or Jira based project management.
* Able to manage several projects alongside one another.
* Master's degree in Computer Science, Geographical Information Systems or equivalent
* Strong written and communication tools
* Ability to adapt to a fast-paced development schedule
