The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an experienced MEICA Project Engineer on a contract basis to support the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects in Cumbria.
This role sits within a multi-disciplinary project delivery team and will involve hands-on support across Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (MEICA) works from installation through commissioning and final handover.
The position offers long-term contract potential on a secured programme of works and exposure to complex, regulated infrastructure projects.
The Role
As a MEICA Project Engineer, you will support the Project Manager and site team in the day-to-day management and delivery of MEICA packages. While the focus is MEICA, the role also provides exposure to civil, building, process and commissioning activities, offering a broad engineering scope.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of one or more projects within a collaborative, “one-team” environment
- Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability requirements on site
- Prepare, review and implement Method Statements and Risk Assessments
- Support programme and budget control, understanding the impact of delays or overruns
- Coordinate MEICA installation works, testing and commissioning activities
- Ensure FATs, SATs, ITRs, pressure testing and commissioning are completed in line with project quality plans
- Assist in preparation of handover documentation, including O&M Manuals, Safety Files and As-Constructed Drawings
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and internal site teams
- Support procurement activities including technical reviews and vendor coordination
- Monitor site progress against programme and adjust workflows as required
- Interface with client representatives, stakeholders and the public where necessary
- Provide site management support during absences where required
Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a MEICA Project Engineer or similar role
- Experience within the water or wastewater sector strongly preferred
- Degree qualified (Level 7 or higher) in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Mechatronics, Chemical or Environmental Engineering
- Strong understanding of MEICA installation, testing and commissioning
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project delivery team
- Experience managing subcontractors and supplier interfaces
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Working knowledge of CAD, GPS and total station desirable
- Full UK driving licence
