The Role
Reporting to the Digital Print & Finishing Manager, the Digital Print Operator & Print Finishers assist in delivering the University’s print service and are responsible for delivering print finishing services for the University’s Print Team.
The roles are responsible for ensuring the delivery and dispatch of high-specification, well-finished print media including posters, brochures, and cards. They are also responsible for the delivery of high-quality wide format print and for monitoring stock levels of University publications and providing a preparation service for University mailings.

What you’ll do
This job description is subject to review and amendment in the light of the changing needs of the University, to provide appropriate development opportunities and/or the addition of any other reasonable duties.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- To produce a range of printed materials for Global Marketing and Student Recruitment purposes and other clients across the University.
- Responsibility for operation of print finishing equipment and ensuring a high-quality print finishing service for the University’s print media publications.
- To produce wide format printing for designated external events including, but not exclusively, the Royal Welsh and National Eisteddfod.
- To assist in the construction of University exhibition stands at designated internal and external events.
- To collate University exhibition materials for delivery to designated internal and external University events.
- To have a basic understanding of creative suites including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- To assist in maintaining appropriate stock levels of consumables and print supplies
- To monitor print finishing equipment, solving equipment problems directly with contractors as they arise and ensuring equipment is serviced according to service contracts.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all wide format print and print finishing to enable best productivity.
- To arrange delivery or collection of finished print materials to internal University clients.
- To ensure that commissioned print work follows the University’s approved corporate visual identity guidelines.
- To provide a high-quality service to clients and customers and to assist the Print Team Leader with their requests for work.
- To undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post.

- Undertake other duties as assigned by your line manager, commensurate with the role's grade.

Essential
Who you are – Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills required
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
- Significant experience of print finishing.
- Experience of working in a large, complex organisation in a customer facing role.
- A good understanding of developments in print technology.
- Good professional working knowledge of digital and large format print.
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines.
- The ability to operate at Level A2 or evidence to demonstrate an on-going commitment to learn Welsh to this level*
Desirable
- Relevant print qualification.
- Experience of working in a higher education environment.
- Oral (spoken) and Written Welsh Level B2.*
