Sifted is looking for a Data Analyst to join our Intelligence team.
About Sifted
Sifted is an award-winning media and insights platform reporting on the world of technology, startups and venture capital in Europe. Eight years after launching, our high-quality journalism and data-driven research is a must-read for many founders, operators, investors and people working with startups across the continent.
We’re friendly, hard-working and passionate about what we do. We have a flat structure, collaborate across disciplines and everyone has an impact across many areas of the business. We value feedback, honesty and clear communication.
Sifted Intelligence
We are Sifted’s research, data and product team, creators of a wide range of content including reports, briefings and rankings mapping the European tech ecosystem and its startups. We’re also building out our premium subscription product, Sifted Pro, to equip our users — investors, advisors, consultants and GTM teams — with actionable data and intelligence to make smarter decisions.
What will you be doing?
As Sifted continues to strengthen its reputation as the leading source of information on European tech, we require a Data Analyst to expand and leverage our datasets to produce high-quality insights and research for our Pro subscribers.
In the role of Data Analyst, reporting to our Senior Product & AI Lead, you will be expected to:
- Source, manipulate and query exclusive datasets of European startups and investors
- Support both the Intelligence and Editorial teams with data-driven insights on startup trends
- Contribute across the entire Intelligence portfolio of subscription and commercial content, including Briefings, Leaderboards and Reports.
This is a really exciting time to join the business, as we look to further scale our market intelligence product, Sifted Pro, and build the one-stop platform for Europe’s operators. It is a great opportunity for an individual early on in their career to gain exposure to venture capital through the lens of a data and research team. Analysts have previously gone on to jobs in VC and product roles at some of Europe’s leading startups.
Core duties include:
- Analyse and interpret startup, investor, funding and M&A data, building dashboards to track and surface key trends and signals.
- Data collection and verification to ensure our inputs are as accurate as possible.
- Scouting the ecosystem for relevant early-stage startups to produce watch lists.
- Researching and writing about ecosystem, investment and sector-specific trends.
- Producing charts and infographics that accurately paint a picture of the latest developments within European tech.
- Working closely with the Intelligence and Technology teams to develop new and existing content formats and product features.
- Speaking with industry players — primarily founders and investors — to deepen insight and strengthen our research
What skills do you need?
- Interested and knowledgeable about tech, startups and venture capital.
- Be highly numerate with a logical approach to problem-solving and high attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical skills, with a proven ability to gather, analyse and present data.
- High data proficiency, particularly with spreadsheets and databases, as well as Python and SQL.
- Comfortable producing clear, concise written research that’s easy for our readers to understand.
- Highly organised, and be able to work on multiple projects at once and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Being a team player with a collaborative approach is essential.
- Be a self-starter with a strong sense of urgency and delivery skills.
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves and get involved in all aspects of the business.
