Satellite Vu was founded in 2016 with the aim to fill the void in high-resolution thermal data from space. It has, since then, turned into a high-growth space tech company poised to help the globe address its sustainability challenges through high-resolution thermal imaging. We are on a quest to ensure any structure on the planet is energy efficient and supports the reduction of businesses’ carbon footprint. In near real-time, we will use infrared technology to monitor the Earth and will be able to assess and determine insights into economic activity. This will allow businesses to make decisions to become more environmentally friendly.
Satellite Vu is looking for a Solutions Engineer who will support the Business Development Team. The Solutions Engineer will report to the Sales Director where they will be the technical lead, help win deals, and drive new business growth.
There is a preference for someone with previous experience with satellite imagery or geospatial information, but domain-specific training can be provided for strong candidates. Experience with defence customers is also advantageous.
There may be a requirement to travel at times, up to a week at a time, with enough notice given. Maximum travel requirement up to 50% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Sell/Upsell products/solutions to customers and their technical experts
- Evaluate and influence customers’ requirements and guide them on the relevant product or service
- Create technical presentations and data demonstrations to highlight the value of the products and services
- Represent the company at events and conferences, providing demos and manning booths
- Attend customer visits and maintain existing, long-term relationships as a trusted advisor to their business
- Technical proposal writing including response to tenders, RFI’s, RFP’s
- Work independently and in a team environment, collaborating closely with the Business Development team to develop account plans and strategy
- Ad-hoc tasks as requested from time to time
- Develop processes and solutions that can be replicated and scaled efficiently
- Provide structured customer feedback to the Product team to inform the Product roadmap
Requirements
- Experience in technical product support, pre-sales engineering or business development
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills
- Strong geospatial technical expertise in GIS & remote sensing software and applications
- Experience with ESRI products and services
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills
- The ability to interact successfully across cultures
- Strong self-starter personality, not afraid of being tenacious and resilient.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritise and manage time effectively
- Desire to learn and work in a fast-paced and dynamic startup environment
- Strong problem-solving skills
NICE TO HAVE
- Industry-specific expertise is a strong plus (particularly defence, but additionally commodities, energy, insurance, finance, proptech)
- Security clearance
- Experience managing a team, or a desire to do so
- Sales process experience (CRM, collateral development, pipeline tracking, etc)
