Must have a clean full UK driving license.
Office Hours: 08:30 – 17:30
The Company:
Air Improve are a Winchester based Air Conditioning and Ventilation installer that have been operating since 1982. We work out of an office on Hyde Street in Winchester and install HVAC systems in commercials and residential buildings across London and the South of the UK. We have a close nit team of Contract Managers and Project Engineers who work together to ensure we supply our customers with the best service throughout the full project lifecycle.
Role Overview:
We’re looking for a Project Engineer to join our team at our Winchester office. This role covers the full project lifecycle from initial site surveys and quotation preparation, through organising labour and materials, preparing risk assessments and method statements to overseeing delivery and completion of projects on site.
You’ll start by supporting smaller projects, working closely with our Contracts Manager and Project Engineer. Over time, you’ll progress to managing larger commercial and residential projects independently as your experience grows.
The role involves occasional travel to customer sites to carry out surveys for accurate quotations, as well as visiting sites once projects are secured. You’ll brief installation teams, act as the main point of contact between customers and engineers, and help ensure projects are delivered smoothly from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage projects across the full lifecycle, from initial site survey through to final completion.
- Carry out site surveys to support accurate and competitive quotations.
- Prepare and issue quotations to customers.
- Plan and organise labour, materials, and resources for projects.
- Produce and maintain risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)
- Attend customer sites once projects are secured to brief installation teams.
- Act as the main point of contact between customers and installation engineers
- Monitor project progress and help ensure works are delivered on time and to specification.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
- Produce operation and maintenance manuals to supply to the customer once the project is completed.
- Maintain clear communication with internal teams and customers throughout the project lifecycle.
The duties outlined above are not exhaustive and may be reviewed and amended in line with business requirements.
Requirements:
- Full UK Driving License.
- Ideally 2+ years’ experience in an engineering environment; however, we’re open to considering engineering graduates who are eager to learn quickly and take on responsibility.
- Confident communicating directly with customers, suppliers, and engineers via phone, email, and in person. This is a customer-facing role and requires someone comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with AutoCAD is desirable but not essential. Training can be provided in the basics required for design work when preparing certain quotations and tenders.
- Although part of a larger organisation, the Winchester projects team is a small, close-knit team of four. A flexible, collaborative, and team-first approach is essential, as workloads, surveys, quotations, and projects are shared based on capacity.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work independently and manage time and workload effectively.
- The role may occasionally require early starts or late finishes to attend site meetings and surveys to suit customer requirements. Flexibility is expected, with additional hours logged and taken back in lieu (no overtime paid).
- This is primarily an office-based role in our Winchester office (5 days per week), with some flexibility for home working when needed.
Benefits:
- Competitive Salary (Dependent on experience)
- 25 Days Annual Leave
- Your own van with a fuel card. (No commuting costs from home to the office, your van will be yours to take home each day)
