What to Expect
The Subsea Cable Project Engineer will work as part of a team on engineering and consultancy assignments for various offshore wind farm projects. This role will involve working on several projects simultaneously and will suit an ambitious and progressive engineer who is able to take initiative in their own work, and who wishes to join a rapidly growing company with many opportunities for progression.
Your role will involve:
- Cable route engineering, planning, and cable burial risk assessment works.
- Assisting the Cable Package Manager across Pre-FEED and FEED stages.
- Analysis related to cable installation and repair.
- Assisting the Cable Project/package manager during live projects.
- Detailed analysis or cable-related issues, typical examples being scoured or cable failures.
- R&D projects to position the client at the technical edge.
The Subsea Cable Project Engineer will also:
- Assist (as assigned by the Engineering Manager) to accomplish the overall delivery of optimum solutions to clients with the timeframe, costs and quality standards established.
- Assist in preparing tenders and proposals.
- Deliver presentations to prospective clients marketing the capabilities of the client.
- Assist in developing designs and specifications for construction projects.
- Attend regular internal meetings and external/third-party meetings as required.
- Ensure all deliverables are conducted in full compliance with approved instructions, procedures and policies.
You will:
Be a driven and solution oriented professional with strong analytical skills, better interpersonal skills, an entrepreneurial spirit and flair for dealing with the clients. Good understanding of offshore wind projects is an advantage. In addition, you will have:
- Up to 3 years of relevant professional experience as a consultant, client, or a contractor within an emphasis on the project management or technical delivery of Subsea cable projects, route engineering studies and subsea cable installation.
- Qualified to at least Bachelors in engineering – Mechanical / Naval Architecture/ Subsea or civil engineering (or similar) additional Offshore survival certificates and up-to-date medical certificates for offshore working is a plus.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office
- Understanding of GIS principles. Proficiency in Orcaflex, knowledge/experience of the CBRA Methodology is a plus.
- Good sales and business development techniques.
- Working knowledge of engineering principles and practices
- Ability to select and apply standard guides, methods, and techniques.
- Working knowledge of engineering principles and practices, understanding of principles of HVAC and HVDC electrical transmission system and proficiency in ArcGIS is a plus.
- Ability to work in an offshore environment on an occasional basis.
- Attention to detail and high level of numerical accuracy and the ability to prioritize work.
- Good English communication skills and excellent report-writing skills are essential.
