What will you be doing?
This is an exciting opportunity for technical management of projects for electrical / mechanical design development and integration of Rotor Sail equipment onto ships, from pre-contract planning and scheduling and discussions with internal and external stake holders, through to final handover of the completed project.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of the electrical OR mechanical technical deliverables of a project, ensuring that technical documentation is consistent and delivered to quality, cost, and time expectations
- Working with internal stakeholders, develop a schedule and critical Path for the project against contractual delivery dates
- Management of vendors (including ship designers) delivery and others contributing to the technical solution
- This role supports the engineering, production and commissioning activities during design, shipyard installation, commissioning, integration and start up by ensuring consistent communication throughout project delivery
- Manage electrical OR mechanical technical interfaces ensuring that project information is communicated clearly, in a timely manner, anticipating and preventing issues and resolving queries.
- Liaise with classification societies supporting the process for Approval in Principle and plan approval of integration designs
- Regular progress reporting to the Project Manager / Project Director to ensure that any timeline changes or issues are raised with sufficient detail for the Shipyard and Project Director to be able to consider and address the commercial consequences
- Attendance at site to oversee the installation / integration
Are you the ideal candidate?
The ideal candidate needs to have experience with maritime Electrical OR mechanical engineering with a sound understanding of shipping/maritime and understanding of Class Rule requirements.
Requirements:
- Relevant technical degree e.g., Mechanical / Electrical Engineering / Marine Engineering
- Shipping/ Maritime – preferably with shipyard experience
- Experience of managing projects from a technical perspective
- Experience of working abroad
- Experience of working with mechanical OR electrical integration
