Regulatory Compliance Specialist – Consumer Products
Manchester (Hybrid) | Permanent, Full Time
Spectrum Brands is a global consumer products company. Our Home & Personal Care (HPC) division designs and manufactures small domestic appliances and personal care electrical products used by millions of consumers worldwide.
We are seeking a Regulatory Compliance Specialist with a background in white goods, small domestic appliances, electrical consumer products, or consumer durables manufacturing.
This role is specifically focused on physical product compliance in electrical/mechanical consumer goods manufacturing.
This is NOT a pharma, food safety, cosmetics, financial services, GDPR, or enterprise risk role.
The Role
As a Regulatory Compliance Specialist, you will play a critical global role in ensuring that electrical consumer products and appliances meet international, federal, and local regulatory requirements across North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
You will collaborate closely with Engineering, NPD, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to embed compliance into product design, materials selection, testing, certification, and factory production.
This is a hands-on, product-facing compliance role in a manufacturing environment, not a corporate governance or documentation-only position.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure consumer products meet global regulatory, safety, environmental, and energy efficiency requirements (e.g. FCC, Energy Star, RoHS, REACH, WEEE, ERP, Prop 65, PFAS).
- Work closely with Engineering, NPD, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing partners to embed compliance into product design and production.
- Support regulatory compliance across the full product lifecycle — concept, development, manufacturing, launch, and post-market.
- Partner with OEM/ODM manufacturers, suppliers, and testing laboratories to gather compliance documentation and resolve non-conformances.
- Prepare and manage regulatory submissions, technical files, and customer compliance requests.
- Represent the business on relevant industry trade groups and standards committees.
- Support social responsibility programs (e.g. BSCI, CTPAT) and product sustainability initiatives.
About You
We are specifically looking for candidates with experience in:
- White goods / domestic appliances
- Electrical consumer products
- Consumer durables manufacturing
- Electronics hardware manufacturing
You will bring:
- Degree in Engineering, Product Safety, Environmental Science, or similar technical discipline.
- 4+ years’ regulatory compliance experience within electrical or mechanical consumer product manufacturing.
- Strong working knowledge of product safety, EMC, LVD, energy efficiency, and environmental compliance regulations.
- Experience supporting New Product Development (NPD) and product launches in a factory-led environment.
- Experience working directly with manufacturers, suppliers, factories, or global testing bodies.
- Clear understanding of how regulations impact product design, tooling, materials, labelling, and time-to-market.
- Ability to influence cross-functional technical stakeholders
Why Join Us?
This is an opportunity to work on real, manufactured electrical products sold globally, influencing product safety, sustainability, and compliance at scale.
If your background is in white goods, small domestic appliances, electrical consumer products, or durable goods manufacturing, we would love to hear from you..
