The Senior Strategy Associate will support the team in various strategic and economic topics across real estate and economic development. The role will support the creation, development, and implementation of strategic initiatives, socioeconomic impact assessment, and long-term sustainable economic development. The candidate will support different development teams in ensuring outputs are in line with Oxagon’s strategy and the wider relevant sector strategies.
The Senior Strategy Associate will be responsible for providing key analytical support to the various business units, teams and departments in the organization. The role is similar to that of an in-house business consultant, partnering with internal and external teams to break-down complex problems into discrete tasks, identifying issues, forming hypotheses, and facilitating discussions between the various teams. Conducting a mix of quantitative and qualitative analyses, synthesizing data, and positioning the findings within the wider context. Communicating ideas and findings from the work through outstanding written and graphical representations. The candidate will lead projects and initiatives to define, assess, and implement strategies that align with organizational objectives of Oxagon and NEOM. The candidate will build and manage economic and financial models to evaluate the impact of demographic changes or new developments within Oxagon / NEOM. He/ she will develop effective storyboards to present to Strategy Office lead as part of executive-level presentations highlighting main takeaways of conducted strategic analysis.
Responsibilities
- Propose strategy development and execution by ensuring projects and initiatives are aligned with Oxagon and NEOM’s vision and annual strategic targets
- Manage strategic planning activities with Oxagon’s development company, real estate, and economic development portfolio, propose initiatives, and develop KPIs to monitor progress
- Develop an economic strategy for Oxagon in line with NEOM goals and apply econometric modeling to forecast economic trends in the region and support public policy decisions
- Create written storyboards and presentations and prepare executive-level presentations highlighting distilled insights regarding Oxagon strategy
- Build, manage and maintain socio-economic and financial models for Oxagon to evaluate strategic, financial, and economic performance of key sectors and lines of business in Oxagon
- Update data models corresponding to new demographic scenarios and highlight impact of new updates in an easy-to-read summary presentation
- Develop case studies and specific business cases, around key sectors, industries, and their value chains, to support informed decision-making on next steps and project momentum
- Provide strategic and financial analysis on initiatives and sector projects, as required, to assist in the decision-making process
- Research and analyze relevant industries, markets, and competitors to identify strategies and initiatives to address desired objectives of Oxagon and NEOM and assess existing and new market initiatives
- Developing new market strategy including end-to-end assessment of issues such as attractiveness, go-to-market, risks, decision criteria, and economic modeling
- Assess trade-offs and pros and cons of different developments and development timelines within Oxagon
- Prepare summary pages to present to Strategy Office lead highlighting main data updates, project milestones, and deliverables timelines
- Develop scenarios centered around variations in business outlook and assess strategic responses including capital allocation and demographic data changes
- Conduct the feasibility studies to support in developing strategy plans, including short-term and long-term corporate strategy
- Work with and coordinate with different Oxagon internal teams and external teams (e.g., management consultants) on output of current Oxagon / NEOM projects ensuring fit-for-purpose outputs
- Align with different Oxagon teams and understand ongoing projects to ensure coordination across stakeholders and drive projects that help achieve overall Oxagon / NEOM strategy targets
- Coordinate and align with Oxagon teams include Data Office team on prioritized tasks and sequence of projects to ensure timely actions and submissions of wider Oxagon initiatives
- Work with the various teams to ensure business plans and economic assessments are in-line with wider company assumptions, metrics, and approved business plans and detailed masterplans
- Coordinate and plan meetings with strategy associate and other Oxagon stakeholders including working closely with DO lead to discuss and align on proposed strategic initiatives / projects
Qualifications
- 4-6 years of experience in management and strategy consulting, economic development agencies, public sector, or financial institutions.
- Undergraduate degree from a top-tier institution in business, Economics, Finance, Strategy, Analytics, Engineering, or any related fields.
- Advanced degree required; MBA preferred
- Experience in working on large-scale national transformation programs is preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, and proficiency in using Power BI.
- Has the ability to manage large amounts of ambiguous datasets and identify trends
- A logical and lateral thinker, who is intellectually curious.
- Independent problem-solver and can confidently take on the lead in new projects / tasks
- Strong background in strategic problem solving with demonstrable analytical skills with the ability to derive strategic actionable insights to discuss with Strategy Office Lead and other senior stakeholders in the organization.
- Highly numerate, have excellent experience in financial modelling including VBA with experience in building and assessing financial, socio-economic models and business plans.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and can develop effective storyboards, executive-level presentations highlighting distilled insights and articulating recommendations.
