OVERALL JOB PURPOSE
Develop, maintain and plan the implementation of the (IB DP/CP/MYP/PYP) to ensure that teachers are well trained and that the school achieves high standards of academic excellence.
Principal Accountabilities
IB DP/ MYP/ PYP policies, principles, standards and publications
- Develop relevant policies to communicate programme principles and standards to Faculty to ensure consistency of approach to the curriculum and instruction within agreed programme standards and principles.
- Maintain an up-to date knowledge of all programme requirements and distribute relevant IB DP/ MYP/ PYP publications, new development information and key information to the teaching team, to ensure that information on the programme in the school is current, relevant and appropriate
- Work with the relevant Divisional Heads to introduce any new courses for the programme to maintain or up-date the school’s offering and to support the Authorization Process for all four programs
Resources
- Support Division Heads in preparing the budget for the programme and make recommendations on the purchase of suitable PD, resources and other essential purchases to support program delivery to ensure that appropriate digital and hard copy text-based materials, digital and actual resources and facilities are up to date, in good order and available to teachers.
Lead review and evaluation process and action plan for assigned programme
- Lead the evaluation and review of the programme scope and sequence, subject overviews and unit plan documents in line with programme guidelines to identify whether any new courses are needed to enhance and improve the standards of academic excellence.
Organise examinations
- Register students for examinations, implement internal moderation and standardisation of work, organise the conduct of examinations including mock examinations, orals and arrangements for visiting examiners and the formal procedures for moderation and certification, distributing students’ results, so that all arrangements conform with programme criteria and guidelines.
Record keeping
- Keep records of students in the programme that conform to the programme guidelines.
Staff professional development
- Monitor own and teachers’ professional development and ensure awareness of development options offered for assigned programme including making recommendations for own and staff training and as workshop participants and leaders to enhance the abilities of faculty to deliver academic excellence.
Communicate the programme to faculty, parents and students
- Lead communications on the programme to faculty, parent and students, ensuring that the School’s promotional material contains accurate information, to promote a good understanding and awareness of the programme amongst stakeholders.
Liaison with external programme bodies
- Scan the environment for external trends and liaise with external programme bodies to ensure that any changes can be planned for in advance and accommodated into the School programme.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
Bachelor Level Degree (second degree desirable)
Experienced HS/ MS/ LS Teacher as the expectation is to teach some classes alongside the leadership role
Experience of IB DP/ MYP/ PYP Programs as appropriate
Experience of Administration
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills – to deliver reports, present at conferences and represent NCS Schools externally as required by Director of Schools and Education
