Climate Arc’s goal is global financial flow aligned to Net Zero in 2050. To meet this goal, it will facilitate financial actors to mainstream climate science-based data into their investment decisions, supported by a global workforce with relevant skills. Climate Arc will work collaboratively with all key stakeholders to optimise this collective effort.
At this critical period of economic transition, information flow on ‘what is happening, what changes are needed and how to align with net zero by 2050’ between corporations and financiers and onto regulators is vital to unlock capital flows and avoid further stranded assets. Even as the market is flooded with data, financial decision-makers are not equipped with adequate, science-aligned, and reliable information.
About The Opportunity
Climate Arc is created to address this problem head on. Specifically, it will provide critical finance decision-leading information and tools - ‘Data’ - and the human capacity and capability needed to apply these tools - ‘People’.
On ‘Data’, Climate Arc will fund entities that produce raw data and analytics for thousands of entities globally, anchored in climate science, modelled on open access, and enabling a level playing field. Additionally, Climate Arc will aggregate the output in a common database that allows for comparability and contextualisation to ensure they are decision-leading and can be absorbed into the financial sector systematically. Climate data and analytics must be open and accessible to allow for financial innovations and to create a solid foundation to shift to the net zero future. We will make data available for sectors and regions which are not yet attracting financing at scale.
