Data Analyst – Thursday
About Thursday
Thursday is a rapidly growing singles events company running events, trips, dinners, and activities across 180+ cities worldwide. We're not a dating app. We bring people together in real life.
As we scale globally, data is becoming one of our biggest competitive advantages. We want to be a company that makes fast, smart decisions based on reality, not gut feel. This role sits right at the centre of that.
The Role
We're hiring a Data Analyst to help build the data engine of Thursday. You'll sit inside the Tech team and work directly with our CTO. Your mission is simple: make the company smarter through data.
You'll own how data is presented and interpreted across the business. You'll work with leadership and teams across growth, events, product, and operations to turn raw numbers into clear insight, direction, and action. We have data in various systems and a team that's hungry for better visibility. You'll help us connect the dots.
This is not a passive reporting role. This is a role for someone who wants to build systems, set standards, and become the go-to person for how the company understands itself.
Some of what you'd be doing:
- Owning core dashboards and reporting used by leadership and teams across the business.
- Bringing data together from multiple sources (databases, spreadsheets, third-party tools) into clean, reliable views.
- Designing clear, high-quality visualisations that make performance obvious at a glance.
- Working directly with team leads to answer important business questions with data.
- Identifying trends, risks, and opportunities before they become obvious.
- Helping define and standardise KPIs across the company.
- Improving how we track, measure, and interpret performance over time.
- Partnering with the rest of the Tech team to improve data quality, structure, and access.
- Building a culture where teams reach for data before making decisions.
Salary: 25-35k
Who You Are
As a person:
You're ambitious and take ownership. You want responsibility and you want your work to matter. You're a self-starter who sees problems and fixes them without being asked. You have a strong analytical mind and enjoy turning complexity into clarity.
You're naturally curious and always asking better questions of the data. You're proactive, organised, and reliable. People trust your numbers. You communicate clearly and can explain insights to non-technical teams.
You don't wait for data to land on your desk. You go out and get it. Talking to team leads, sitting in on meetings, understanding how things actually work on the ground. The best insights come from combining the numbers with real context.
You learn by doing. You move fast, figure things out, and don't wait until you know everything before you start.
You care about real-world connection and are excited by building something meaningful in real life, not just on screens.
Technically:
- Strong analytical mind. You think in systems, not just spreadsheets.
- Comfortable working with imperfect, messy, real-world data and making it usable.
- Clear evidence of genuine interest in data, whether that's personal projects, complex spreadsheet models, data visualisations, notebooks, or anything else that shows you love working with numbers.
- Strong sense for data visualisation. You know what makes a chart useful vs decorative.
- Very capable with Excel and Google Sheets. Can build models, dashboards, and reporting.
- Uses AI tools to explore data, generate queries, and work faster.
- You don't need to know our stack. With support from the tech team, you'll learn our tools and grow into building data features directly into our platform.
Nice to have:
- SQL or database experience
- Experience with BI platforms, Python, or other data exploration tools
- Interest in TypeScript or web development
- Startup or high-growth company experience
- Product, growth, or operations analytics exposure
