Consilium Recruit are proudly supporting CMB.TECH. They are the R&D division of a privately owned international shipping line CMB founded in 1895. Operating at the very forefront of green fuel technology, CMB.TECH designs, builds, owns, and operates large marine and industrial applications that run on hydrogen and ammonia. With a technology and development centre located in Brentwood, they are seeking a Research Data Analyst to join the team in Essex.

The Role

The Research Data Analyst will support the Research and Development team with data processing, analytics, and reporting. You will use and leverage a range of tools such as Python, MATLAB, and SQL to deliver combustion, fluid mechanics, engine and vehicle analysis reports.

The Research Data Analyst will build a data lake based on field data from multiple sources and aggregate these to support various functions within the business such as marketing, sales, engineering, and design. You will develop and maintain automated scripts for on-the-fly processing of data as it becomes available.

The Research Data Analyst will be inquisitive and proactive when performing analysis, you will propose and test novel algorithms and solutions. You will work with the emerging simulation team to understand and integrate CFD results into the larger test program, developing robust big data practices using distributed file systems and cloud-based technologies.

The Research Data Analyst will ensure adherence to all Health & Safety and Quality & Environmental policies that affect the relevant work areas and be able to communicate results and underlying mathematical models to a range of audiences through reports and presentations.

The Person

The successful candidate will possess a minimum qualification of Bachelors Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Computer Science or Software Engineering. You will have 1-2 years’ experience in MATLAB with a keen interest and aptitude for mechanical systems. The Research Data Analyst must be methodical, self-starting, and able to work with a hierarchy of objectives.

You will have knowledge of Quality tools and techniques and have experience on other software platforms/languages such as Python, C# and T-SQL ideally. The ability to self-manage and work under pressure to deliver in an ever-changing and dynamic environment is key in addition to level of personal flexibility to accommodate some international travel as part of the role.
