A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Engineer to join an automotive component manufacturer based in Chester.
As a Maintenance team member, you will maintain the plant’s machinery and equipment, while improving processes to minimise disruption to the line. Working right at the heart of our operation, you will be a valued member of our dedicated maintenance team with the opportunity to develop and broaden your skills in this most demanding and fast-moving of automotive environments.
What our client is looking for:
· If you have the flexibility to work shifts, have a completed a craft/technician apprenticeship and are skilled in PLC programming, pneumatics or electrical systems, please read on.
· You should ideally have spent at least two years within maintenance, although we are happy to consider less or more experience. We’re looking for people who can make a strong contribution to our business, people with a passion for taking the initiative and making things happen.

During your first three months, they will assess your skills in each of the following:
· Electrical systems
· Mechanical systems
· Fluid power systems
You are not expected to be skilled in all of these areas and there may be some in which you have no knowledge, however the aim is to assist in tailoring a training programme specifically for you. The training will be on the job, which will be supported by some off the job training.
Their aim is for all of their Maintenance Technicians to be multi-skilled – that’s why their training is designed to enhance your existing skills, as well as build new skills. It will be a steep learning curve and your first 3 years will be spent gaining a great deal of new skills and knowledge. Throughout your career with the company, they will continue to support your development, which may even see you specialise in a piece of machinery or equipment to deepen your knowledge further.
What our client offers:
The basic salary for Maintenance team members is circa £34,492 plus a 43% shift premium for those on a 24/7 shift pattern - plus any overtime.

Candidates must display consistently high performance over a number of years.
Members who are considered as suitable to promote to a team leader position will be required to complete an intensive development programme which will develop their skills and allow evaluation of their suitability for the position.
Hours of work are 38.5 hours working between Monday – Thursday 6.00am – 2.00pm and Fridays between 6.00am – 1.00pm.
Salary for this is between £35,000 - £45,000, depending on experience, plus the above benefits.
