Term: Six Months Fixed Term Contract
Salary: £32,000 Pro Rata (£16,000 for 6-month contract)
Location: Central London. The role is office based (three days a week), but travel between locations may be required from time to time.

The Role:
We are looking for a highly capable and enthusiastic individual to join our small Finance Team and support the company during a period of rapid growth and be part of our compelling development. The successful candidate is considering in developing a career in finance, wanting to learn from a group of experienced, finance professionals (who have qualified from Big Four backgrounds), is passionate about sustainability issues and wants to help lead the charge on decarbonisation.
They will be able to experience the excitement of a start-up business which is growing and constantly innovating, with leaders in the field of hydrogen everywhere they look. The size of the team means they will get exposure to the full range of finance functions and key personnel, including the Chief Financial Officer, something they would not experience in a larger organisation, and offers the chance of rapid on the job learning and development.
The role will report into the Senior Financial Accountant (SFA) but will work across the finance team. Their key activities include:
- Managing the relationship with the external accountants and be responsible for the processing of purchase invoices;
- Assisting the closing of Protium’s monthly and annual accounts, as well as assistance with the annual audit, by supporting the SFA;
- Preparing weekly pay runs, ensuring invoices are settled in an efficient manner;
- Assisting the wider finance team by collecting and preparing information for shareholders, potential investors and other stakeholders;
- Improving the efficiency of financial processes and policies, assisting the company through its maturity.
Required Experience:
Protium values candidates who are self-starters, willing to learn quickly and can contribute to part of an exciting company in a rapidly expanding industry. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a fast-paced and challenging environment, as well as confident to put their ideas forward and challenge if required. We do not require prior experience in a finance function as a requirement; a willingness to learn, develop and have a passion for finance and sustainability are more important.
The successful candidate will have:
- An interest in pursuing a career in finance/accountancy;
- A strong appetite for sustainability;
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with stakeholders across all levels;
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite, notably Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Required Qualifications:
- A degree is an advantage but not a necessity.
Annual Leave: 28 days pro rata, as well as national holidays.
