H9 Technical Recruitment are hiring for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to work at our clients EfW plant in Edinburgh to be responsible for the provision, in a professional and timely manner, the day to day scheduled maintenance, fault finding, breakdown and inspection activities to the mechanical equipment and systems on site, in order to maximise the plant’s performance and availability, whilst maintaining high standards of Safety and Environmental performance.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Performance of troubleshooting, routine, scheduled and major repair and preventative maintenance on all site mechanical, pressure and lifting systems and the associated equipment including monitoring for changes in operating conditions.
- Assist in the coordination and planning of maintenance activities to ensure maximum plant availability, reliability, flexibility, and performance without compromising quality, safety and environmental priorities.
- Assisting in identifying, developing and the delivery of maintenance techniques and procedures directed at increasing overall plant availability and performance.
- Testing and calibration of mechanical systems and field equipment in accordance with OEM supplier requirements and prudent Industry Best Practice.
- Management of all work associated with departmental activities on site, including supervision and control of contractor works as required.
- Provision of close technical support to Operations and other site teams.
- Active participation in Company and site initiatives and projects as required.
- Supporting outage planning, scheduling, co-ordination and management.
- Undertake, where required, the scheduled inspection and testing of equipment required by the company’s procedures, HSE legislation and the site’s Pollution Prevention and Control (PPC) Permit requirements.
- Assisting with the Development, Supervision and management of maintenance contracts, projects and sub-contractors for general maintenance and planned outages.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience of power generation operations and maintenance associated with steam turbines, boilers, conveyors, feeders, ash handling and balance of plant.
- Knowledge of electrical generation and distribution up to 33kV,
- Knowledge of plant control and instrumentation.
- Computer Maintenance Management systems / applications.
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualification
- Knowledge and experience of Electricity Supply Industry Standard Safe Systems of work, Safety Rules and Permit for Work Systems.
- Knowledge and understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation relevant to steam powered electricity generation.
- Installation and commissioning of new and replacement equipment.
- HNC/ONC in a mechanical or process plant engineering discipline
- Possess strong ethical and moral standards and assertively deliver these.
- Preventative maintenance, overhaul and repairs on mechanical equipment and systems such as Overhead cranes, Grabs, Pumps, Fans, Valves, Actuators, Mechanical Drives & Assemblies, …
- Knowledge and experience of Safe Systems of work, Safety Rules and Permit for Work Systems.
- City and Guilds/NVQ level 3 in a Mechanical Engineering discipline. (Qualifications below this level may be acceptable if accompanied by suitable experience).
- Comprehensive, practical experience in the preventative maintenance and defect repair/interrogation on process related mechanical equipment. (Such as Overhead cranes, Grabs, Pumps, Valves, Fans, Mechanical Drives & Assemblies)
- Full understanding of P&IDs and mechanical drawings, and the ability to read electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and isometric diagrams.
