Purpose of the role
To support Protium’s Operations & maintenance Engineer at one of our facilities and provide production engineering input for project development.
The Production Engineer will optimise production processes and procedures, ensure quality and safety standards whilst working with the O&M Engineer to develop the operational plan in support of sales opportunities.
During the course of the tenure, the Production Engineer will set out the production processes, systems and technologies that are required in support of Protium’s future operations. Working with the Asset Management team, Digital team and other stakeholders the Production Engineer will deliver elements of the future operating model.
Responsibilities
- Develop the production process with the O&M Engineer
- Document all production processes and knowledge
- Identify opportunities for process optimisation and operational cost improvements
- Lead production improvement projects
- Conduct planning for production and maintenance working with the O&M Engineer
- Implement suitable quality control methodologies ensuring output hydrogen product conforms to appropriate specifications
- Work with the O&M Engineer to diagnose breakdowns and implement preventative actions
- Identify and procure external services in support of production
- Follow all safety rules and regulations
- Communicate with clients and venders to obtain materials and/or equipment needed
- Work with the Asset Management and Digital team to develop suitable systems and processes to deliver optimal output from upcoming production facilities.
- Setup a continuous improvement approach and lead on improvement activities
- Work with the project development team to set out operational planning
- Support Asset Management in outsourcing strategy for operational activities in large projects
Experience
- 10 years plus of experience in an operational / production setting, which ideally comes from the industrial gases industry or other similar highly regulated background
- Lean thinking and significant experience in leading continuous improvement activities
- KPI and data driven approach to improvements is essential
- Experience of using digital and industry 4.0 technologies to improve production processes
- Practical experience of production and is able to support in the field – perhaps the candidate has performed a field engineer role in the past
- Mechanical and electrical experience, but a systems thinkerExperience of implementing production systems and ERP is a significant advantage
- Must have experience of using various production systems and tools
- Is a self starter and able to work with minimal supervision
- Ideally based in South Wales but also able to travel to London and other offices as required
