The position

Condition Monitoring Engineers provide data analysis and engineering expertise to the wind farm Asset Management and Operations & Maintenance teams, with the aim of maximising generation and profit for the asset owners and RES by ensuring the efficient operation of power plants.

You will analyse, explore and interpret operational data, principally wind turbine vibration data to provide the best diagnosis and recommendations for the operational plant, enabling highest revenue and profit for clients and RES whilst managing risk propose methods for reducing lost production. You will identify performance improvement opportunities and communicate findings to the operational teams.

Reporting to the Lead Condition Monitoring Engineer, you will help embed analysis standardisation across assets and continuous improvement to improve the efficiency and accuracy of analysis and reporting.

The role requires engineering, data analysis, reporting and communication skills to ensure that data driven insights are actionable and positively impact site operations.

The role requires a willingness to travel within UK and Europe, for example to other offices and sites and occasionally a to work outside of office hours to support operational needs.

Organisational Context

The team works as part of the Analysis and Optimisation Services team within the Operations and Maintenance department in close cooperation with the Asset Management, Site and Operational teams. They provide expertise and knowledge to assist with effective operation and maintenance of operational plant, working closely with O&M providers, internal support teams and asset owners.

The team provide technical analysis, reporting and engineering support for an expanding portfolio of wind farms, currently in excess of 2 GW, informing on the performance and condition of the operating plant to enable effective plant maintenance at lowest cost and lost production.

Key Accountabilities

Analysis & reporting: Conduct the delivery of analysis and optimisation services for wind farms including performance analysis and reporting, issue diagnosis, site onboarding, remote site and engineering support, and plant improvement; with the aim of minimising cost and lost production.

Data: Assess network and communication issues, identify data loss and validate data integrity.

Value driven: Evaluate and report the effectiveness and value of analyses and recommended actions.

Continuous Improvement: Support the delivery continuous improvement initiatives to help realise the team strategy. Including development of tools, processes, specialist analysis and industry trends.

Knowledge you will need

  • The basic principles of wind turbine technology and energy production.

Skills You Have

  • Ability to communicate data derived insights to experts and non-experts
  • Ability to handle several projects and high workloads with demanding timescales and deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team collaboratively and react positively to challenges
  • Data mining and programming in languages including Python (Preferred)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills enabling effective discussion and transfer of information between areas of the business, site teams, contractors and clients
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Investigative nature naturally inquisitive, proactive, solution focussed and has sense of ownership on work
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Strong reporting and presentation skills and proficiency in using Microsoft 365 packages

Experience You Have

  • Managing, analysing and visualising large datasets
  • Previous experience in renewable energy is preferred.

Qualifications You Have

  • BEng, MEng, or equivalent, degree in a related discipline, with a focus on: Electrical Engineering, Data Analysis, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Maths are preferable.
