The Lead Planning Engineer has a critical role within ScottishPower Green Hydrogen and is responsible for all Project Control activities within the Hydrogen portfolio including functions like Reporting, Project Tracking, and future planning of resource needs for the business.
Reporting to the Head of Hydrogen Projects, the Lead Planning Engineer will work on a portfolio of sites across the UK and Ireland which are in various stages of the project lifecycle.
Along with line management duties there is also an expectation that the Lead Planning Engineer will help shape certain aspects of the PMO, creating and implementing processes and procedures that relate to planning and tracking of key business performance indicators.
What You’ll Be Doing
Preparing, monitoring, and updating programme of works for combined portfolio for all stages involved (engineering, permits, procurement, supplies and construction works. Assist in implementing and continually improving key planning procedures that can be adopted with the Green Hydrogen Teams PMO.
Line management responsibilities for internal planners including developing and managing team planning activities across a portfolio of projects along with closely coordinating and managing expectations from planners working for our partners/sub-contractors. Working closely with the Head of Projects and the individual project teams to ensure strong internal relationships across Scottish Power and the wider Iberdrola group. Working with the senior team to manage the expectations across the business in terms of project schedules and potential delivery.
What You’ll Bring
A professional qualification and/or relevant degree or equivalent experience with significant experience planning/scheduling in an engineering/construction environment and experience in implementing now business procedures/processes. You’ll have strong and effective communication skills and be customer focused with an understand of key drivers.
Expert knowledge and understanding of project planning software (MS project or Primavera) would be desirable along with Hydrogen/Energy/Utility projects knowledge (general configurations, main equipment involved) and general steps required throughout project lifecycle. You’ll bring problem solving skills, be able to multi-task with autonomy across multiple projects.
