A subject matter expert in the energy (power/electricity) value chain (generation, transmission, distribution and retail). Skilled at translating business requirements from ideation into digital technology-driven outcomes that can be prioritised for delivery execution. In this pivotal role, the manager will act as a "customer success manager" for ENOWA Digital & AI department’s business partners in for the energy division; leveraging his/her profound understanding of their specific industry challenges to guide them in articulating digital requirements. His/her expertise will ensure that the digital initiatives are strategically aligned and optimised for maximum business value, making the individual a key driver of innovation in ENOWA’s energy division.
Key Accountabilities And Responsibilities
In line with the Business and Digital Strategy of ENOWA (NEOM Energy & Water), the successful candidate will:
- Business Engagement: Foster strong relationships with business stakeholders to understand their strategies and objectives in the context of energy generation, transmission, distribution and retail. Establish a structured process of executing the Digital Portfolio Management process (e.g., workshops, interviews, validation sessions, etc).
- Digital Requirements Translation: Translate business strategies and challenges into clear and actionable digital requirements, ensuring alignment with organisational goals. Ensure alignment with Digital & AI department’s Enterprise Architecture, Cyber Security and Data Management functions.
- Digital Portfolio Oversight: Strategically manage a portfolio of digital initiatives, prioritising projects for maximum business value and overseeing their successful execution. Having the ability to both identify and articulate value for all stakeholders (Business as well as Digital & AI department).
- Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate between business and technology teams, facilitating a shared understanding of objectives and project progress.
- Technology Collaboration: Collaborate with IT teams to identify and implement technology solutions that meet business needs in energy generation, transmission, distribution and retail. Keep abreast of both best-in-breed as well as value-based third-party solution providers.
- Problem-Solving: Utilise problem-solving skills to address complex challenges in the industry, proposing innovative digital solutions.
- Data Analysis: Analyse data and metrics to evaluate the impact of digital initiatives, making data-driven decisions to optimise performance.
- Project Management: Apply project management methodologies to ensure digital projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget; including the development of project (Epic) charters (Idea Cards, Epic One Pagers), schedules and budgets.
- Adaptability: Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes, adapting digital strategies accordingly.
- Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams, inspiring collaboration and achievement of common goals.
- Reporting: Provide regular reports to senior management on the progress, impact and the ROI of digital initiatives.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to foster a culture of innovation and excellence in ENOWA’s energy division.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with digital initiatives, ensuring business continuity.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and reliability of digital solutions and their alignment with business objectives.
Background, Skills
- Subject Matter Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the energy industry, specifically generation, transmission and distribution systems as well as in retail. Knowledgeable about industry trends and regulations with the specific application of emerging digital technologies.
- Sustainability: Appreciation and high-level understanding of the complexity in a 100% renewable (solar + wind) grid which will be first of it’s kind. ENOWA Energy initiated the first grid infrastructure project; designing and executing substations and transmission lines spanning hundreds of kilometers.
- Business Acumen: Strong understanding of business strategies and the ability to translate them into digital requirements and solutions.
- Stakeholder Management: Proven experience in serving as a "customer success manager" for business actors, nurturing relationships and effectively communicating between business and technology teams as well as third-party partners.
- Digital Portfolio Management: Expertise in strategically aligning and managing a portfolio of digital initiatives to maximise business value.
- Technology Aptitude: Familiarity with technology solutions relevant to the energy industry, enabling effective collaboration with IT teams.
- Problem-Solving: Exceptional problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to address complex challenges in the field.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication as well as persuasive skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and vice versa.
- Project Management: Proficiency in project management methodologies to oversee the successful execution of digital initiatives.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse data and metrics to assess the impact of digital initiatives and make data-driven decisions.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing industry dynamics and technologies.
- Leadership: Demonstrated leadership skills in guiding cross-functional teams towards common goals.
- Regulatory Compliance: Awareness of regulatory compliance requirements relevant to the energy industry.
- Continuous Learning: A commitment to staying updated on industry advancements and best practices.
- Experience: A minimum of seven years of experience in a similar role within the energy industry, preferably with a reputable company. Regional experience in the Middle East will be beneficial.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business or technical field
- Industry-specific certifications related to energy industry will be desirable.
