The Commercial, Portfolio and Regulatory unit in the hydrogen organization is a growing team of 9 employees. We will ensure that Statkraft is able to assess and select the right hydrogen projects, find the right partners and acquisition opportunities to achieve our hydrogen ambitions, deliver optimal solutions for our hydrogen customers, and have the knowledge of the hydrogen market and regulation to make the right decisions and influence our environment. The team will work in close cooperation with the asset owners and will in many cases work as an integrated part of the hydrogen project development teams.
We work closely together with all parts of Statkraft involved in hydrogen development. Our primary geographic focus is where we have dedicated hydrogen asset owner teams
(e.g. Nordics, UK, Germany, Netherlands), but we will also provide support and sparring for new markets for Statkraft hydrogen activities such as the international markets India, Brazil and Chile.
Responsibilities
- The geographic focus of the position will be the UK
- As a commercial manager, you will mainly be engaged in projects where the key off-taker has been identified and initial discussions with the off-takers have been conducted. The commercial manager leads the commercial workstream in the projects with the following key responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the overall commercial approach and logic of the project
- Develop the hydrogen purchase agreement (HPA) in close cooperation with local business developers and off-taker. This will include…
- Develop HPA which is aligned with the project’s power sourcing strategy, and which has an acceptable risk level for Statkraft
- Lead negotiations with the customer
- Obtain necessary internal sign-offs for the HPA
- Work with the Statkraft Markets team to obtain a suitable power hedging, e.g. power purchasing agreement (PPA), for the project, including setting the PPA requirements
- Ensure the project applies for suitable public funding
- Ensure new customer development for the project is aligned with the overall commercial approach and logic of the project
- The commercial manager will also in some cases support local business developers in defining the commercial offering provided in initial discussions with off-takers and join 1-2 early meetings to support in mapping customer needs
- Contribute to developing a standard set of commercial offerings which AOs can take to customers (PPA/HPA/contracts) across Statkraft’s hydrogen markets
- Lead or support the process to establish partnerships/JVs, e.g. with customers, technology partners or co-developers
Qualifications
- University degree within relevant area with documented extensive experience in the field.
- Experience from commercial development of capital projects, origination, negotiations, contracting, strategy, M&A or similar related fields, either from the renewables sector, hydrogen sector, or e.g., from management consulting or investment banks
- Demonstrated strong commercial understanding, insight into project economics and key value drivers
- Strong and proven ability to lead and develop people and collaborate with others
- Strong ability to take initiative, drive and manage projects and processes with multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Positive attitude with an ability to work on various ad hoc projects concurrently with a demonstrated ability to manage a large workload
- Professionalism and integrity
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in other main European languages would be an advantage
