What To Expect
This role is responsible for the definition; development and delivery of harmonised systems solutions, consisting of multiple interconnected components, into Jaguar Land Rover vehicles for the SVO Propulsion department. The Powerpack Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the Powerpack (or propulsion system, e.g. HV battery, on-board charger, electric drive units) are sufficiently specified through system requirements, and ensuring adherence to both legislative and corporate design standards. This role is responsible for ensuring that system requirements are fully traceable back to their origin at the vehicle level and then downwards, into the Centre of Competencies (CoCs), for example the HV battery or electric drive unit commodity teams, and for managing the cascade and impact analysis of changes in requirements.
Key Accountabilities And Responsibilities
- System Functional and Non-Functional Analysis - carry out a range of analysis and investigations of the customer requirements to define the expected system functionality and their performance targets.
- Evaluate multiple system design concepts and maintain integrity between system and its components to arrive at a harmonised solution.
- System Functional and Physical Architecture - Liaise with architecture teams to maintain alignment with the specified programmes, as well as electrical and physical vehicle architecture.
- System Design Specification – prepare system requirements specification and developing functional designs, demonstrating how the system satisfies the defined customer requirements.
- System Integration – Define system logical and physical architecture, Interface Control Document and a system integration plan.
What You’ll Need
In order to be considered for this position it is advantageous to hold a formal qualification such as Degree within Engineering or any other relevant subjects.
The successful candidate needs to have experience of system definition, system architecture development, requirements specification, design/performance modelling, systems integration, system assessment and acceptance.
- Good relevant experience of working in a Systems Engineering environment - ideally within the Automotive Sector.
- Model based engineering (MBE) & Requirements Management (RM).
- Working knowledge of automotive high voltage systems, standards and legislation.
- Good verbal and written communications and analytical and problem-solving skills.
