The Role
The Graduate Engineer as part of Calor’s engineering team will support in meeting company and national standards across all operational Calor sites, Upper Tier COMAH sites, lower tier COMAH sites within National Infrastructure plant.
Responsibilities
- Embed safety as the number one priority establishing an open, proactive, and transparent safety culture.
- Assist in execution of project schedule in conjunction with Engineers and Engineering Manager
- Manage contractors where required with a particular focus on health and safety
- Lead and/or contribute to the selection, installation and commissioning and maintenance of plant and equipment in compliance with internal and external standards and procedures
- Manage individual project elements to ensure they are completed on time and within budget
- Prepare project status reports for review by Engineering Projects Manager.
- Provide assistance on project budgets including cost projections, costings, contingencies and spend and commitment tracking. Report any potential overspends to lead engineer
- Communicate project updates to Plant and Depot managers and key stakeholders
- Complete and refresh all training specific to role as and when required
- Adhere to the Engineering Management of Change procedure
- Support safety audits on Calor sites
- Diligent safety and technical process design and adherence
- Support day to day Operations activities
- Ad-hoc duties as required by your manager
Scale of role:
- Responsible for assigned engineering projects and assistance with larger engineering projects within a team of engineers. These sites are top tier COMAH sites with safe storge of bulk LPG on sites with storage vessels, associated pipework including cylinder and bulk filling
Education requirement to complete this role:
- Primary degree in mechanical, electrical, civil, or industrial engineering
Experience Level:
- At least 6 months of workplace experience
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise
- Strong numerical ability, good technical report writing and presentation skills
- Excellent communication skills, can-do attitude, and team player
- Willingness to learn and be flexible
- Demonstrated ability to work on own initiative and as part of a wider team.
- Full clean EU/UK driving licence is essential
- AutoCAD experience (desirable)

The following levels of decision making are required:
Engineering:
Provide information to aid decision making regarding the design or process dictating the levels of safety, cost, and efficiency, thereby protecting the company brand, staff and customers’ safety and the financial performance of projects, the Department, and the Company.
Safety:
Provide information to support instructions and advice to staff and contractors on dealing with engineering projects and the implementation of same
Finance:
Provide information/proposals to support final decisions on purchasing of services and equipment within the Department and the justification to proceed with projects on a return-on-investment criteria.
Level of supervision/leadership required:
This role provides the foundation for a safe, professional, and quality engineering project management. Setting of a professional example is essential. This role provides direct supervision of contractors on small engineering projects.
